I would say duncan is a star but no where near the "star power" for lack of a better term than most stars on other teams.

He was a star player. No doubt. He just didn't have the same sexy appeal as the other guys. He might end up being the player of his era, so he was definitely a star.

Duncan is a god in S.A. that's it.
Maybe Texas.
Maybe Texas.

How'd you quote my name with that list?
I don't wanna be associated with that list in ANY way
I think I quoted your quoting of it by accident.
I think I'm putting that as a sig quote anyway; I won't let anyone think that bullshite came out of you, shel.

Don't bring this up again. You really think Duncan is a better player (career wise) than Kobe though?

ANY time you bring up 5 rings are better than zero, it is completely relevant.
It's a fair comparison because just like with Lebron vs Kobe, the ONLY way to argue that Parker is better than Chris Paul right now is to say he has 3 rings and an NBA Finals MVP. That makes it completely fair and a legit comparison.
It's relevant because it shows that as his team's best player and leader, Kobe can lead his teams to wins win it matters the most - the playoffs. Let's take away the first 3 titles with Shaq because that's a whole different discussion. Since then, as the Lakers clear cut best player, leader, and number one option, Kobe has led his teams to 2 NBA titles. LeBron has been to one and didn't do shite of note.
The best players show up when their teams need to them to take charge and lead. LeBron choked, Kobe led the way (cue butartesthadthegamewinneridiots).
Your "comparison" is nothing like the LeBron Kobe comparison. Kobe-LeBron is an actual discussion, I have heard NO ONE, not a single soul ever ask or bring up or even think, hey guys, maybe Parker is better than Paul. No one ever brings it up because it's not a debate nor is it even a question really. If you used a Chris Paul-Deron Williams-Derrick Rose comparison, then it would be more relative.
You keep saying that LeBron is better than Kobe yet have nothing to back it up with. How is he better? Is it the rebounding numbers? I sure as hell would hope a 6'8 250 forward would have more rebounds than a 6'6 205 SG. As for the assists, yes they are an impressive total, but considering the guy basically plays point forward at times and goes against guards who he has a considerable size advantage against, it's no wonder he's able to pass so well.
As a shooter, it's no comparison, Kobe > LeBron. Hell LeBron is only averaging one more point a game than Kobe despite averaging 5 more minutes a game. When the Lakers get a sizable lead, Kobe is sitting on the bench resting. Why put up meaningless numbers when the game is in hand? Meanwhile, LeBron is out there padding the stats.

He's regarded by most as the greatest power forward to ever play the game, and by quite a few as the greatest player of his era.
He's a star and a franchise-changing player, just not as marketable because of where he plays and his style of game.

He's not the marketable superstar that guys like Kobe/LeBron are. He's definitely a star

Has yet to be determined, as greatest player of an era is a true first year to last year assessment, especially when comparing two players who came into the league at right around the same time.

He was a star at one time. He was the MVP. There's no denying it.

The fact that you consider yourself logical and knowledgeable but don't consider Duncan a star is very contradictory

It's been real guys. I'm out.

I guess so, but I just feel like unless the Spurs win it this year and maybe again and Kobe and the Lakers don't do jack shite until he retires, I would find it nearly impossible to put Duncan over Kobe.

If Lebron shot 6 of 24 or 40% for a series, you wouldn't be able to come to TD fast enough to post about him choking.
And you'd be here saying he's the GOAT.

When you shoot 40% from the field doing so and go 6 of 24 in game 7.
And yet, managed to lead his team in scoring. I find it funny you didn't mention the 15 rebounds or the 11 free throws he hit.

Duncan is the greatest player to ever play his position Kobe is not. Granted, Kobe's position has had a lot more high-profile players over the years. But I guess this is really irrelevant because both players will be remembered 50 years from now either way.
People don't realize how good Duncan was, and he doesn't get the credit that he deserves. Which probably goes back to him being in a small market and not very marketable.
If I can choose to build a team around Duncan or Bryant at the start of their careers, I'm taking Duncan.
