The only prize in that Cleveland package is Wiggins. Bennett doesn't look good and that pick will be towards the bottom of the first round.
The Chicago package consist of arguably the top player in Europe, who would have been a lotto pick in each of the past few years, McDermott a lotto pick, and a above average NBA power forward.
I swear the way people rate and talk about Wiggins, you'd think he has potential to walk on water.
5 or 10 years down the road, I wouldn't be surprised if people looked back and said how the hell did McDermott fall out of the top 3 that year.

Wiggins is the only player in either trade scenario with the potential to be a super star. If you're Minnesota, I think you have to go for the home-run. Also, if they are trading a pick it's probably going to be the Heat's pick which should be better than the Cavs pick this up-coming season.

Can Mirotic be traded yet? I thought he just signed..

The odds favor the Bulls package in getting the Wolves a return of their investment. They could swing for the fences and fail miserably. Wiggins still has a lot to work out and far from a sure thing. He wasn't even the consensus best player in the draft. The Heat's pick is not guaranteed to be a lottery pick either.
I do understand that go big or go home mentality though. But, the Bulls package is the safer and probably wiser deal. Which arguably, makes it the better deal.

Chicago columnist Joe Cowley said yesterday the TWolves were the ones putting this stuff out there, not the Bulls. Still think this is just a big smokescreen to get the Cavs to dump everything if they want Love.
Exactly...Flip just throwign anything out there to get Wiggins. Hopefully Griff doesnt get suckered

The Bulls package has a better chance to return 60 cents on the dollar and leaving you in mediocrity. The Cavs package has a better chance of returning 90 cents on the dollar (and working out well) , but also has a better chance of only being 25 cents on the dollar and your team ends up in tank mode.

This is my line of thinking as well. If Wiggins was on the table then this deal would of already been done.

There isn't a deal Cleveland could conceivably come up without Wiggins that would make any bit of sense for the Twolves.

I'll play Devil'a Advocate to this.
Let's say Wiggins turns into a Superstar.
How often do superstars stay in Minny?
Especially with their current ownership group?

Bennett Tristan Dion and as many 1st round picks as possible

I think you may be underrating both Mirotic and McDermott by a bit. They may not have the superstar ceiling Wiggins has, but they are safer and a better bet to reach their ceiling as pretty good players. Other than their individual ceiling evaluation, I agree with the rest.

I hope the Bulls are just driving up the price for Love.
Call me crazy, but I like what we have and I hope we keep it intact.

That was exactly my point. They (Mirotic and McBuckets) have a better chance of becoming above average players, while Wiggins has a better chance of becoming a superstar or an average player.
So, (at their ceilings) do you want three above average players (Gibson, McDermott, Mirotic) or a superstar (Wiggins) and an above average player (Bennett still has potential).
Maybe I'm down on this trade scenario because I'm not really sold on Mirotic.

The only other superstar the Timberwolves have ever had was Kevin Garnett and he was there for 12 years.

Garnett advised James to put loyalty to the Cavaliers aside and do what's best for himself and his family.
Noting the similarity in the two situations, Garnett said, "If I could go back and do my situation over, knowing what I know now with this organization, I'd have done it a little sooner."
Garnett was traded to the Celtics after the 2006-07 season and won a championship with Boston the following season.

I agree. The Bulls front office had a great offseason. It's funny that they could have held onto their two 1st rounders though and taken a combo of something like Gary Harris and T.J. Warren, but Dougie Fresh is a nice addition too.

To be fair, Minnesota pissed him off trying to trade him earlier during his time there and I think that still irks him, as does anything that has ever happened to him. I bet if Garnett took some Yoga classes, he would be much more pleasant
