Why are they fricking with he greatness of college football?
I don't consider LSU vs Sam Houston to equal greatness. I see it as a waste. Play 12 real teams.

should make it more interesting no doubt.
should also expect more losses.

There is nothing stopping LSU or Bama from trying to schedule PAC 12 teams instead of FCS. They just don't want to.

It would put LSU at a huge disadvantage competitively. You don't get rewarded by playing a tougher schedule. See 2011

I don't really have a full understanding of this but it sounds like we are fricked. Hopefully this blows up in the big 5s face and then we can figure out something more fair to all the schools.

the new governing body will actually enforce the rules stricter and make compliance a million times better.

This is going to suck and suck the enjoyment out of College Football.
A lot of that stuff is already happening now.

Of course you're not going to stress about this. Your group gets to make their own recruiting rules. While we (the smaller schools) will have even more of a disadvantage.

I don't believe it is as blatant as it will become. Sure we as LSU fans always believe, some tongue in cheek, that the SEC Offices base their policies on Bama, but with its own autonomy, they will most certainly attach their financial well beings to the schools that they believe can win and win often.
My personal opinion of College Football has always been too many cheifs, but at least they are somewhat restrained. Give the chiefs autonomy, and all hell will break loose. JMO.

Isnt a basic nature of Amateur sports the idea of the "little guy" at least, as little as it may be, having a shot? This now makes that 100% impossible.

quote:For CFB as a whole, I'm not sure this is that big of a deal. Playing Big 5 schools every week will be just as enticing.
First, it will completely destroy the smaller schools who occasionally compete for BCS games, but arent part of the big 5.
quote:They already do.
Second, eventually, the Bamas, Florida Sts, Texas, Ohio Sts of the world will run College Football
quote:It already is.
Thirdly, it will turn into a total bidding war for high school players
quote:Wait, so that's favorable to this new system?
At least now the bag men are hidden and secretive and only the real high profile players are paid
quote:Good, the NCAA is terrible as it is, it'll likely be better now that the Big 5 will have more power.
In 10 years, the College Football we know will cease to exist

this seems like a lot of positive to me.
-players get more benefits.
-schedules will be more balanced (P5 vs P5)
-non-power5 teams can create their own division and ACTUALLY compete for titles again.
lets face it, NCAA Div I is too stratified between the haves and the have-nots; this merger is necessary so the smaller schools actually have something to play for again...

You are turning my argument into a pro-NCAA argument, congratulations that is difficult to do...I despise the NCAA.
The NCAA is useless and by allowing the Big 5 autonomy, have really only bargained to keep itself in place as a figure head. Its sort of like Parliament keeping the Queen in place, she doesn't do anything. My main argument here, is that by allowing the conferences themselves to dictate what will happen, it will eventually erode the product.

No one is forcing the big guy to pay the little guy to play.

quote:That's surely not my attention. But, and I may have the wrong guy, you laughed at someone saying the enforcement may be better this way. If you know how bad the NCAA is, I'd think you'd know the enforcement aspect can't get much worse, so that's a wash at worst.
