Expect to see more and more of this. Bowl games don't mean shite anymore
Critical extra practice time for young players to develop. Critical time together ad a team to develop chemistry and drive culture. ND is just allowing the top 12 to take advantage of this extra time while they fall further behind.
I think these factors will be more important during the portal era where chemistry and culture development will be more difficult with roster turnover.

College sports brought this upon themselves
The fans did.
Everyone hates the current state of CFB, but no one is willing to lose to change it. Everyone would rather win with the illiterate 5 star QB from the Los Angeles ghetto than the lose with the hometown 3 star who loves the school and wants to study to be a doctor.
Big money and win-at-all-costs attitudes are just incompatible with the model of a collegiate student-athlete. Hell, we’re lucky some approximation of it lasted as long as it did. But eventually the money and attention broke the dam. It was inevitable.
Another thing to keep in mind is fricking college football is hard and time consuming. These Notre Dame guys have already done all the Rudy shite. I assume the good players have enough money to buy their own swag. After four months of practicing and playing, is it really that appealing to spend all December on a deserted campus practicing in freezing cold weather in Indiana to go play a 13th game in the Pop Tarts Bowl?

They are going to get trolled for years to come for this decision.
Posted on 12/7/25 at 4:26 pm to cpp2208
My first reaction was to call them pussies. But after some thought they probably are doing the right thing. The committee fricked them over by putting in an undeserving Alabama team. The committee's decision is capricious, arbitrary, and self-serving. They fricked FSU a few years ago, and Notre Dame this year, all to suck SEC dick for the money.

As part of a memorandum of understanding signed last year that guarantees that the field will have at least 12 teams in 2026 and beyond, Notre Dame would be guaranteed a spot if it finishes in the top 12 starting next year.
If that rule was in place this year they would have been dropped to 13

And you’re a dumbass who thinks it’s still 1996. It’s ok.
The rich irony here is that Notre Dame ALSO opted out of a bowl game against Auburn in 1996 because Lou Holtz felt that anything other than a New Years day Bowl was beneath them.
They went to the same bowl the next year and got clobbered by LSU.

Dear 2025 ND Football team,
We don’t give a frick if you play in a bowl or not. You had recovered some respect the last few years after the bk era and getting drilled by sec teams by 30-40 points. Your run in the cfp last year put you back in respect of many fans around the nation. You have now lost that respect with this pussy decision. Alabama took their beating against Michigan despite being disappointed last season as did FSU the year before. The sport would like to have you but hardly needs you. Have a merry Christmas.

Nobody gives a shite about these bowls. ND’s top players weren’t going to play regardless. Nobody cares if you win. A key ND player tore his Achilles in the Sugar Bowl last year and played in only one game this season.
ND played into late January last season. I’m perfectly fine with letting the players finish out the semester, spend the holidays with their families, and come back in January ready to roll.
And the MSB gets to call ND pussies/bitches, so it’s really a win-win for everybody.

I wonder if they're paying all the coaches who have incentives in their contracts for bowl victories? If not that's fricked up!

Fighting Irish? More like Fighting Sissies.
It doesn't get anymore chickenshit than this. They want to be looked on as CFB royalty. But act like bitches.

I don't blame them one bit. Bama should not be included and as long as they keep getting preferntial treatment not afforded other schools frick bowl games.

Nah. Hell they got a 3rd string running back to decide not to transfer even though he’s likely to be 2nd string next year. Freeman has the locker room tight.

Bro this is like the 2nd or 3rd time today you bring up Freeman being black. You are a mentally weak racist frick.

You don't speak for the nation, you're an Alabama hack. Your team got killed in in the championship game and didn't drop at all. That's never happened before. BYU dropped after getting blown out, why didn't Bama? They benefited from the SEC bias of ESPN and the selection committee. This was done for the money, not because three loss, FSU- losing Alabama deserved a spot. They didn't.
