I agree with this completely, but I think he is on fire regardless. Dude always has been competing in every major recently being at the top of the leaderboard. He seems to be the hottest golfer on the PGA Tour. He won that tournament last week with the best players in the world. He is playing well so I'm calling Hunter Mahan to win.

no. golf is just more unpredictable than tennis. picking top 8 in a golf major is a hell of a lot more difficult than predicting the quarterfinals of a tennis major. guy ranked 75 in the world could win this week and people wouldn't be surprised.

Funny you pulled 75 out of the air. That would be Vijay Singh, who won this championship the last time it was played at this course. I'd be pretty surprised if he won this event, but not near as surprised as I'd be if the 75th ranked tennis player won the US Open next month.
