Not much to do with this particular situation, but it can be tough to know where an imaginary line is at with huge emblems at mid-court. It's kind of up to the refs discretion. In this case, it's easy to see he took a step over, after the push off (since he's close to where the line ends). But there is no line there to make it definitive. I think that gives it a bit of latitude.
