So is that what it is about now? I thought we were criticizing Michael Sam because we don't like gay people
you asked me about those other situations in general, if you want to bring the focus back to the singular issue of today that's fine but don't act stupid like you didn't engage the discussion on other atheletes

It was pretty over the top super duper fabulous
I'd say I'd stop watching ESPN because of it but that happened a long time ago anyway

Yeah, I understand what it means. You thought you were being a devil's advocate. You ended up proving my point.

I think that Sam just proved that he is going to be a major headache.
If the Rams evaluate him equally on talent alone he shouldn't be on the roster past the 3rd week of preseason. However I have a feeling the PC media is going to pressure the Rams into keeping him on the team for the full season as their token gay guy.

Yep. And he is broadcasting to the world that him being gay will be the focus of everything.

No I tried to engage you on more than one line of thinking and alternate discussions. You seem unable to comprehend that though.

So are you lumping Michael Sam into that generalization as well? That we didn't like his antics because we don't want to see professional athletes have power? Or is it because we hate gay people?

Sam isn't the problem. People flipping out over it are.
If people like you didn't flip out, there would be no circus.

I really do understand what you are saying.
What you are advocating is exactly what he said he would not do, however. He said that he just wanted to be seen as a football player. You are saying that he is now seeking attention to gain power.
I am saying that that is what he is doing too.
You bringing the other stuff into it is actually what I am talking about which is different from what he said he wanted to do originally. You are proving my point.
He is doing what you are devilishly advocating, which is different from what he said he was going to do, thus proving him to be an attention-seeking liar.
Get it?

Yeah, no.
Usually I ignore stuff like this, but this is stupid.
Sam planned the whole thing. ESPN had the camera crew at the gay bar. I am calling Sam out on his false claims.
If he had hugged and given a normal kiss to his boyfriend, I would have not said a word. He smeared cake all over him and kissed it off. He knows that this is controversial and sensitive, so, instead of downplaying the controversy, he amps it up and shoves it in everyone's face in a flamboyant way. ESPN goes to the gay bar with guys dressed in drag.
What they are saying is that any opposition to any of this or any kind of reaction against it makes the person reacting the one who is weird and deviant. There is a clear agenda being promoted and Sam is obviously in on it.
THAT is all different from what he has said he wanted to do.
I am not flipping out. I am calling him out on his lies.

This situation seems like a South Park episode making fun of political correctness. Gay football player drafted in the last round makes out with a dude on live tv feeding each other cake while everyone else awkwardly applauds. The people who are weirded out by it are criticized and called bigots. Seems like something straight out of South Park except its real

How about you let the Rams make that decision?
Based on his college scouting report alone Marques Colston should have never made a NFL roster, but he seems to be doing alright.

AlaTiger is right.
I mean I enjoy Rock Hudson movies because the dude is a good actor not because he enjoys bone smuggling. But Rock Hudson didn't put his gay in your face.
If Sam would focus on the NFL instead of his sexuality this wouldn't even be an issue. The energy he's wasting on his sexuality has serious potential of hampering his performance on the field. This is the NFL. Athletes, especially marginal athletes like Sam need total focus and attention to his craft to simply make the team.

And for the record, I have supported Sam being in the NFL. I have no problem with it.
I do have a problem with his false pretense, though.
My guess is that NFL teams have a problem with it too.
AJ McCarron dropped to the 5th round because of his attitude. You think NFL execs don't know what Sam is all about? They can see it a lot better than our media and ESPN can - or than they want to portray because every gay person in America has to be seen in the most positive, sympathetic light all of the time.
This has nothing to do with Sam being gay. It has everything to do with why teams didn't want to draft him.

Sam isn't a pro football calibur player. That was my issue with espn coverage. He is slow as frick and can't jump. If he works out I'll eat my words.
If clowney was gay, he still would have been the first pick.

I just wanna watch sports for sports. I don't want all of the soap opera bullshite that ESPN tries to associate with sports.
Gay issues
Racial issues
Religious issues
I don't even need the little feel good stories they show of players every now and then.
I don't need any of this stuff. I just want to watch sports. Is that too much to ask?

Polian went to the bathroom immediately after his congratulatory rant. Did he go to vomit or rub one out?

Yep. It is pretty amazing.
Except, it isn't even about being weirded out. It is about seeing what the guy's actual agenda is and calling him out on it. Now, the Rams have to deal with this through their whole training camp.
Sam could have done a lot to show that he was just a football player today by celebrating with him family and yes, his boyfriend, in a normal, appropriate way. Then, we move on. Instead, he smears cake all over the man and kisses it off while ESPN has a reporter with a bunch of drag queens getting their reaction.
I bet that the Rams are thrilled now.
