very little difference b/w 1 and 3

There was a lot more expected of JR though, i think. The Bengals already had a strong starting QB in Jeff Blake. You could argue that JR wasn't equipped for those kinds of expectations with his issues and the circus that is the Raiders.

It was hard to find LSU fans who agreed with the decision. LSU fans were happy an LSU player was being drafted number 1 but that doesn't mean they agreed with the decision. The majority of fans definitely thought it was a dumb decision for the Raiders origination.

Where's the evidence that he didn't care at LSU?

Its staggering how LSU fans hate JR, the most talent QB we've had in a long time. It'd be one thing if he didn't play well or we lost a bunch of games, but we had the same exact record in 05 and 06 with JR as we did with Flynn in 07. I guess Flynn was better at breaking Pat White hand

That's Leaf's title and it's not even close.

Russell has better stats than Leaf (more wins, better completion %, better TD to Interception %, more yards), and Leaf cost the Chargers extra picks. Russell cost the Raiders 1 pick.

If someone can't recognize that Jamarcus Russell was the best QB in the nation in 2006 and that he is the best quarterback that LSU has had in a long, long time, it isn't worth arguing with them. There are actual stats to back up both facts.

haters gon hate. JR was a beast and made big plays to win games

but apparently his accuracy(somewhere near 68% completion) and decision making(8 picks) were just plain awful, while Flynn's(under 60% completion) and decision making(11 INT's) were stellar

The beast was least in the two losses and ok in two other games.

Beyond one very good year, his lack of effort/caring was very noticeable to lots of people and why he is not playing in the NFL now.

No second chance being possible for a former #1 is unheard of, but he is the exception right now.

Matt Flynn had moxie. JR didn't. Therefore, Flynn>JR. shite, give me Mauck over JR. Moxie overcomes all.

Stats are for losers. JR is so bad, his rep is so bad he can't even be brought in to be cut. 3 years and out. Nuff said.

It amazes me the amount of venom that some LSU fans have for this guy. And a vast majority of them for some reason wanted him to fail. He did fail in the NFL, great, get over it. At least now he is back in his community shelling out donations left and right to help those around him. But yeah, let's hate this guy and call him a tard. That sounds reasonable. Idiots.

even though Jamarcus was significantly better statistically than Flynn, he wasn't a winner like Flynn apparently. Even though he went 10-2 and 11-2 as a starter his last two years, but that doesnt matter. LSU lost those 4 games so he sucks

JR was better in College, but Flynn has a much better shot at being a starting pro QB at this point one day.

First I'll say that Russell was an absolute beast. But I'll also say that he was playing with arguably the most talented team in LSU history.

He had his 2 worst statistical games in the 2 losses, which were 2 of our biggest games. The Auburn debacle can mostly be blamed on the refs, as sad as that is.

The Florida game, though, Russell was terrible (4 turnovers, rating under 100)

For the entire season, there's no doubt that Russell put up some of the best numbers in the country. It was just frustrating to see the offense not put up points in those 2 losses.

As for Flynn, Russell's stats were on a different planet. Flynn had a few really really bad games.
