Caveman in an NHL studio. Not the caveman himself, the guys he's with.

Is there no such thing as a shoot off?

My shite, I didn't know it would be a thread-discussed question.

reason being is because shootouts are only necessary to determine a winner during the regular season without having games go on until 3 in the morning. the importance in this is that the winning team receives 2 points for every W in the standings, an L receives 0 points and an L in OT receives 1 point.

But in the playoffs points don't matter, just winning the series, hence no need for a shootout

Called a shootout, not a shoot-off.

And it's in the reg season, after a 5 minute 4 on 4 OT, if no one scores.

as it turns out, hockey isnt a real prevalent sport down here, think most people around here don't know all the rules and structure of the game. its like asking the rules of lacrosse or somethin

Shoot-off=ejaculate
Shoot-out= tiebreaker in hockey

called a shoot out

And it only happens after one sudden death OT period in the regular season has passed without someone scoring
