I imagine many sports media members feel the same way. I don't know how they can possibly feel this way.

How is the worst FBS team in history winning a title not a better story?

Because Miami has a much greater diverse fan base. Don't you care about minorities??

His brain dead take is if Indiana wins we're talking about the Big 10 dominance b/c it would be their 3rd in a row while if Miami wins we are talking about college football in general because.... reasons he never full articulates other than some weird idea that "back in the day" we never knew where a title winner would come from and is was Nebraska one year and Miami the next w/no conference talk.

I highly doubt SAS is even aware Miami started the year ranked 10 while Indiana started 20 which kind of undercuts his point as, conference affiliations aside, Miami is still considered by most to be a "have" while Indiana is most certainly viewed as a "have not".

It comes across like he has no idea there were dynasties in the 60s/70s/ 80s/90s/00s. This could possibly be true b/c I remember him crediting Skip Bayliss for getting him into CFB when they started to broadcast together making it seem like he straight up never watched it until he had a co-host that covered it heavily.

Miami is the ultimate bandwagon team. They don't really have a big time organic fanbase. Even in Miami. No one was a fan of Miami until the 1980s...even people IN Miami. Then they became popular because they were winning and playing with a swagger/arrogance no one else was playing with. But once that ended, people stopped caring. In fact, all of the "die hard" Miami fans suddenly became "die hard" Alabama fans.

Miami is going to play for a national championship in their "home stadium"...which isn't anywhere close to their campus. Their fans will outnumbered by the opponent by at least 2:1. The U has some great players that played in the program and some big personalities, but on the whole, Miami has no traditional backing

Every aspect of Indiana is more riveting to unaffiliated fans. Underdog, portal, experience, Heisman winner, coaching style. The only thing Miami has is historical relevance

Honestly either team winning is a great story, with Lee Corso retiring this year and seeing his team win a Natty as a non football school is a great story. And the U being back and winning another national championship is a great story and great for the sport. We need the ACC to be competitive.

It’s probably because Indiana was a number one seed and Miami barely made the playoffs

100%

While living in Florida, i noticed this quickly. When Canes were shite, those flags and hats, n stuff went into closet, and the FSU and Florida gator gear was out in full force.

One of biggest band wagon fan bases in CFB, next to USC and UCLA. NO one gives a shite about them, till they are winning, then the celebutards and cfb media on west coast are sockling their nuts

Indiana winning would be the better story but Maimi being back would get more click and views.

2011: Oklahoma State being in the BCS title game would be the better story but a rematch would get more clicks & views.

2024: Jeanty winning the Heisman would be the better story but Hunter would get more clicks & views.

Welp; when ESPN wants something, they get it. GG Indiana.

Josh Pate - ESPN/podcast said it would be bad for CFB overall if Indiana wins the National Title.

There was this "acceptance" begrudgingly from MSM and now this kinda openly against Indiana narrative before the Title game for some reason.
