From the way people talk about it now you would think every bowl game had some importance before the playoff.
They didn't. During the late 70s and later all I looked forward to most of the time was the rare matchup. Michigan and Schembechler winning a Rose Bowl in 1980 and finishing 4th actually didn't mean shite.

This makes sense. The Big 12 is a clown show.

Should have been Baylor/Memphis in the Cotton Bowl, and Georgia/Penn State in the Sugar Bowl

I hope so. I really like Burrow, been aware of him since he signed with OSU. Hell of a high school athlete. Great basketball player too

The Sugar Bowl has visions of Texas or Oklahoma being in the consistently that’s why they made the deal.

Pretty much every fan base in the conference would bring huge numbers of fans other than Baylor.

Even when Kansas made the Orange Bowl they traveled

WVU, K State and Iowa State would invade Nola

Haha I mean Baylor has like 15K students tops at any one time and maybe like 1,500 actually give a frick enough to travel.

It’s like when people were making fun of TCU for having less fans at AT&T Stadium against OSU.

LA is a much bigger draw than the NOLA, especially for a bunch of Baptists.

That seems like a slight exaggeration last year was great, just a down year for the Big 12 this year. It’ll be fine going forward

The conference championship games are killing the bowls. Bowl games were much more interesting when the regular season left some ambiguity about who was the better team.

Why does every thread complaining about attendance proclaim ________ prior to kickoff?

I don't give a shite how many people are in the stands prior to kickoff.

Nielsen ratings don't poll viewership prior to kickoff

If you're going to complain about attendance, quit being lazy and quote something that is accurate and relevant.

Per the broadcast at the end of the 3rd quarter, official attendance is 55,000, or 17,000 less than sold out. I also doubt that the full 55K actually showed up

Might be better to have a plus-one or the playoff after the bowls. Then the top teams are still playing for something.

Conference championship games have turned out to be the dumbest money grubbing events in the game. Pointless

Just got back. Crowd was very disappointing. 60-40 Baylor if I had to guess.
