Sounds like this coach has a Axe to grind with the kid and his dad. Its funny how ppl are saying the kid shouldn't have gotten a scholarship when the man they are supporting "Leach" is the one who gave it too him. So your saying Leach was wrong in giving the kid the a scholarship? Now this coach is saying his teammates think he is lazy, but no where in there does it state actual teammates saying this. This coach is saying that someone else said this, so where are these ppl to make these comments now? I really truely don't give a shite. I don't care about Texas Tech, their idiot fans or a overated coach in Mike Leach. I still can't believe why ppl won't even back up their own team when they back the player.

That letter has nothing to do with Tech or its dealing with Leach. He is just having an opinion. He was not there at any time during the time in question.

Two days prior to the incident in question, I disciplined Adam James along with several other recievers. His attitude was poor the entire time; even with constant plees for improvement. By the end of the practice, a few of the other recievers accepted their lack of performance in the previous practice and worked harder. Adam was not one of these individuals. He was last on all the excercises asked to do and talked and "danced" during the discipline. When told that this was unacceptable, he simply shrugged his shoulders. I continued to encourge him with no success.

To whom it may concern:
You can find out a lot about a person after playing three years of college football with them. Adam James was a teammate of mine from 2006-2009. Ever since the day he arrived on the Texas Tech campus you couldn’t help but to feel a negative energy from him. He expected people to baby him and that he was going make it solely on the fact that his father was a very successful player. Coach Leach has never been a coach to just give something to someone because of who they are. He believes that everyone is equal and you have to earn respect from your coaches and teammates. Adam was never known as a hard worker. I can honestly agree with this because we played the same position and I witnessed his laziness on a daily bases. Adam seemed to have a negative attitude towards the football program the majority of the time. That negative energy is never good for a team and can cause some major problems on and off the field. During practices, Adam always tried to get by with doing the least he possibly could. Never do I once remember Adam to be excited or enthusiastic to be out there. It was almost like he was playing the game of football to please someone other than himself.
Sincerely,
Eric Morris

Two practices before Adam James claimed he had a concussion, Coach Leach and I were forced to discipline him for poor effort from the previous practice and poor effort during the early drills of that day. This has been a common theme about Adam's work ethic and attitude during his entire career. Adam, along with two other receivers that were also unsatisfactory, was sent to run stadium steps with Bennie Wylie. After the practice, Bennie made it very clear to Coach Leach and I that Adam was a complete "jerk" while he was being punished. After talking with Adam after the practice, it was very clear to me that Adam did not agree with the punishment and believed that we were just mis-asessing his effort. He complained to me that we were not doing our jobs as coaches and that his effort was just fine, all of which is very typical of him to say. By comparison, the other receiver that we punished agreed that his effort wasn't his best and had a good attitude with Bennie and also in meeting with me after practice. It's just another example of Adam thinking that he knows more about coaching than people who have been coaching for their entire lives. I have no doubt that anger from this led to where we are today with this situation and is his way of trying to "get back" at us coaches

And did not Riley rescind that statement? It does not matter what happend except at that moment in time. There are 2 sworn affidavits by an ATC and team physician. And there is contradicting statements by both sides. I am going to say Leach got what he deserved by trying to think he went to far in his job title, acting as an ATC and thinking he could file an injunction.
Leach was placed on suspension on the 28th by Tech. A day before it was learned the player was James. ESPN broke the story before naming James as player in question.

Holy Crap! I was laughing at the guy comparing Mike Leach to Nick Saban, but you're taking it to a whole new level by mentioning Bear Bryant.
For you guys who seem to think Mike Leach is John Wayne restoring manliness to America, just keep in mind that his fat arse has never played a down of college football. Hell, I don't know if he even played high school football growing up in Wyoming. But yeah, he's a real tough guy for waddling around the practice field calling a guy who's actually scored TD's for him a pussy.
You've got to completely ignore reality to be celebrating this guy as a great coach.
Fact: never won a national championship
Fact: never won even a share of a conference championship (something his predecessor did)
Fact: most successful season ever ended with a bowl loss (and it was NOT the most successful season in TT history).
Fact: never received a single offer from another school
I do not get the love-fest for this guy on TD.

2 of the first that came to his aid were 3rd stringers at best. Maybe if they had spent more time working hard and less time bitching, they might have actually done something with themselves instead of occupying a scholarship.
Several since, Sheffield and Swindall for example, are not 3rd stringers.

Don't they teach Gumps to read?
I was obviously not comparing coaches but how another school's fanbase might react in a similar way if a highly successful coach was fired on the word of a disgruntled player and a meddling daddy.

That's not why he was fired.

its all about the "difficulties"
and the $$
buyers remorse, Leach forced them to give him more $$ than they wanted to,but after last year tech didn't want to alienate the fans,,now after a year of bitching the administration found something to use to rid themselves of the contract
and will prolly make all sorts of promises to current coaches/staff etc to get just that
Heres were I come down
Leach had the highest graduation rate in the Big 12 AND had a successful program on the field
that's not an easy accomplishment.
Hes also an arrogant SOB and prolly pissed a few people off. But you have to break eggs to make an omelet.
adamn james is a little bitch and a whiner, that does not mean he should be abused. I don't think he was, Leach had a reputation for making players run a sand pit if they missed a study hall or had academic difficulties.
He was a disciplinarian and that was known and tacitly approved by the administration because they did nothing about it. For them to act this way now over something that was mild compared to other "punishments' is hypocritical and asinine

Looks like Leach's team is turning him.

Where are these letters coming from and why in the world would Graham Harrell come out and write something like that?
Posted on 1/3/10 at 4:09 pm to OWLFAN86
They have mentioned letter by Harrell and others denegrating James. Davis has even made sure that he has not sounded like May or Mattich.

Can anyone name any current players that have come out for Leach? I haven't seen one yet. Not one player showed any support for him in the game either. It seems this current group just didn't like him for whatver reason.
