Wade is having a great year as well. His statistics aren't going to blow anyone away, but he's been incredibly efficient. And with the years that James and Bosh are having, he doesn't have to blow anyone away. He's been pretty consistent this year though. I've viewed him as the second best player in the league behind LeBron for the last three seasons, but that will probably end this year, mainly because of stats. Stats aren't everything, but they're what people love.

I kind of feel the opposite about Wade, but he has been impressive in his game played this year for the most part. I am holding missing games against him. I feel the same with CP3 who has been excellent, but he missed games. At this point, when you miss 20% of your team's games, then it kind of affects your season's production IMO. The rate stats still look great, but frequency stats take a hit.

I do not know how I feel about Wade at #2. I find Wade to be pretty comparable to Kobe over the last year couple of seasons. I know they are different players with different skill sets, but if I were to give them an overall rating, then it would be pretty close. Wade generally has had the edge in PER in recent seasons, but they are still very comparable in what they bring as a whole. Also, I thought Howard was definitely #2 last year.

Wade was better than Kobe last season. I think he was the year before too, obviously.

My biggest knock on Wade was always his inconsistent play in the years between Shaq and LeBron. He didn't give 100% effort, which was the one reason why I liked Kobe over him in 2009. His defensive effort was also always in question by the media down there as well. Now, of course, you didn't hear about that on ESPN, because all you'd see his is great highlights on both sides of the ball. However, the effort question was definitely there.

But last season, he was obviously fully motivated. And it showed. I think he was the 2nd best player in the league last year.

This is LeBron's best year of his career and maybe the best season a player has ever had.

You're kidding right? Wilt averaged 50 points a game for a season.

Lebron's PER is about a point higher right now than any of Jordan or Wilt's best seasons. PER is a pretty reliable indicator bc it accounts for minutes played, amount of shots taken, stuff like that.

Not quite.

Although I do think Durant is the 2nd best player in the league this year, Lebron is the clear #1.

I would take LeBron b/c of his D.

If the game is on the line with 1 minute left give me Durant all day.

Those claiming LeBron could have the best season ever, what yr is he better than Jordan from 87-92'?

Jordan shot 50%+ as a shooting guard, 30+ppg, and his defense is typically all defensive 1st team.

Arguably all of them except for MJ's 32/8/8 year.

Lebron is shooting 55% which is better than any of those years from MJ I believe.

Lebron is also clearly, by far the 2nd best defensive player in the NBA, and the best perimeter defender in the NBA.

If any other player basically in the history of the NBA not named Lebron was having this season, people would be going nuts about how historical it is.

Durant is the superior shooter and has spread his production out all over the court. LeBron has taken a third of his field goal attempts from 3 feet and within and half of all of his made field goals come from within 3 feet of the rim. From 16 feet to the 3 point line, Durant is hitting 51.3% of his shots. LeBron is hitting only 38.3% of his shots from the same range. LeBron is hitting 41.3% of his jump shots while Durant is hitting 44.3%.
Assuming all of this is true, I'm not sure what your'e saying.

What I take from that is, Lebron does a better job at getting to the rim and getting easier shots, which is kinda the point of offense, putting yourself in the best position to get the best results. And Lebron unquestionably gets better results.

38 points on 59% shooting, to go along with 11 boards, 6 assists, 5 steals and a block
That is downright nasty

When it was over, he had 11 rebounds, six assists, five steals, a block and no turnovers. Add in the points, and it was a statistical line that's never before been seen since records for such things started being tracked in 1977.

Since individual turnovers were first tracked in the 1977-78 season, no NBA player has had a game with 35 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and no turnovers.

I did not even think he was the second best in Florida last year.

I had Wade and Kobe at a tie for third last year.

This season, Durant has vaulted himself up a couple spots.

My 2010-2011 top ten (made during the regular season):
1. Lebron
2. Howard
3. Kobe (tie)
3. Wade (tie)
5. Dirk
6. Durant
7. Paul
8. Rose
9. Melo
10. DWill

This year, I am not as sure so far:
1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. Kobe
4. Howard
5. Wade
6. Paul

Wade and Paul will likely move up if they can play the rest of the season. They do great in rate stats, but they are hurting by missing roughly 20% of the season each. In this case, I prefer to look EWA or value added because Wade missing like 9 games should be held against him.
