A player and a guy who coaches several guys on tour.
For all the guys who think Phil is an extremely nice guy, his nickname among the players on tour is FIGJAM (F*ck I'm Good...Just Ask Me). He is not well liked among most of the guys on tour, and his public persona is far different from the private.

I've heard this from several people like you who say they know people around the tour, and usually when there's smoke, there's fire. But, to me, there's a difference between just being a dick to the guys on tour in private, and coming off as a dick in public. I don't really care if Tiger and Phil are great guys or not; I just want to see good golf.

You do realize Phil Mickelson is one of the most hated athletes in pro sports (he showed up 8th out of the top 10). Other Tour players call him "figjam" (frick I'm good just ask me). The whole media persona that you fall for deserves a

I agree with you 100%, it's all about good golf. The only reason I posted was because the OP acts like the guy is a saint and that karma was on his side. Simple fact is Phil is human and has his vices, he just happened to play better golf than anyone else in the field this week. Let's not cannonize the guy.

The people I know who have met and know Phil seem to think he is a pretty decent guy.

Phil is kinda a dick though, and anyone who knows a PGA player personally will tell you that Phil is easily the least liked person on the tour by other golfers. The guy Phil portrays himself to be on the course isn't the real Phil Mickelson

this isn't directed at you, just more to your comment. IF this is the case (and I'm not saying it is) but for the sake of this discussion, here's what I don't understand. Woods' fans are telling everyone that it's all about the golf and his personality/actions/etc are all irrelevant. OK fine...well if that is the case, if it's all about the golf, what difference does it make if Mickelson is disliked by his peers? He's still a phenomenal golfer, quite clearly top 3 in the world...why the double standard?

I have read on a couple occasions that Phil is one of the least liked guys on tour, BY TOUR PLAYERS. They think he is a fraud?? And he does have a gambling issue I believe. So don't put him on SUCH a pedestal. I am not a Tiger or Phil hater. I was pulling for Phil. I AM an Angel Cabrera hater.

What I do love about Tiger's troubles is the fact that it puts in perspective how difficult what Tiger is trying to do is. People say he needs just 5 more to pass Jack. Well 5 more majors is Nick Faldo.!!! It is another hall of fame career on top of a Walter Hagen type career. this shite is not easy.

i bet they all love tiger too.
i don't care if phil is an arse to other players. they are his competitors. he acts right for fans and i don't need much more than that.
my dislike for tiger, like i have said a couple of times, is not his fault at all. tiger is usc, notre dame the dallas cowboys and the new york yankeys all rolled into one.
there are golf fans and there are tiger fans. rarely are there both.
