I forgot that grad transfers don’t have classes
The semester is over..... they normally take a couple classes in the fall when the season is starting
Oh and if OP had listened to the rest of the interview apparently Beck is still taking classes haha
Q. I’m curious, did you have class yesterday? If so, what class? I know there was a pep rally on campus. What has it been like being you as a student this week, particularly yesterday?
CARSON BECK: No class. I graduated two years ago. Obviously I’ve been working towards other degrees now that I’ve gotten to Miami, but these programs take a little longer than just a year to finish. Obviously I’m not enrolling again next semester. So I’ll be done after this season.
Q. Are you really working towards other degrees?
CARSON BECK: Well, after this, I’m done.
Q. Just to be clear, you’re basically a professional football player. You’re not taking any classes.
CARSON BECK: No, no, no, I’ve been in school, yes. I’ve had classes this whole entire year that I’ve had to take. Now, all of them are online, so I don’t ever actually have to go in person, which is probably a good thing and helps me as far as my schedule and time that I can devote to football.
No, I’ve been enrolled in school and taking classes, yes.

He laughed and said he graduated two years ago like he hasn’t taken a single quiz in that time.
I give zero shits. I remember how it worked for athletes at LSU when I was there 20 years ago. Even before NIL they had every possible advantage.
Just funny that he said the quiet part out loud

He was enrolled for the fall semester. The playoffs are a continuation of a season that began in the fall. He's just not enrolled in spring semester classes.

I mean I thought they at least had to pretend to take a couple of classes
maybe he was in the fall but that semester is over and I doubt he's taking spring classes
That's exactly what he did and what he said.

The simple worldview of people who just rely on "everything sucks now" and everything they see verifies that worldview is a real problem on this board sometimes haha
college football has major issues with NIL and transfer portal especially. a grad transfer not being a full time student in class has been happening for decades though so it's dumb to use it as an example of how "CFB is broken"

It's the demographics of this board.
Where it was once a place of vibrant 20-somethings in or just out of college, it's a bunch of old guys angry at their life in their late 30s/40s.

College sports have nothing to do with college anymore. It's a professional sports league where universities effectively own franchises and play their games on college campuses.

I'm a happily married small business owner who hasn't lost perspective (this thread is just one example) or full understanding of the big picture. Your vitriol isn't going to work here

Why do you argue so much here then SFP?

Why do you crybabies still watch CFB if it’s so bad

Honestly, at least he got a degree, which is more than can be said about most of the other "student" athletes

It’s not just big time athletes at big schools. My son plays a spring sport at a smaller school and he graduated a year and a half early (no redshirt year either).
He’s working on his masters degree now, while still playing his sport. He will never step foot in a classroom while doing the masters program. It’s done completely online. He could have easily come home and done it, but the Athletics Director offered him a full ride to be a GA in his office. He didn’t get a dime of NIL money, but a nearly free college education along with a free masters is good enough for us.

your son is the reason college football is broken
back in my days we walked 5 miles to class in the snow uphill both ways

Excellent point.
And also part of the problem. We have them a bigger platform than they deserve. And their overall impact on society is Iaughable.
