Yup. That A's team won 102 games and were still 12 games out of first place. Ridiculous season by the Mariners.

That list is a failure without the 86 Mets on it. The best team of the last 30 years

As great as the '75 REDS were, The 1976 Reds were MUCH better.Compared to '75, the '76 team had more Hits, runs,HR's triples, rbi's Ba and Sluggin %, PLUS had 7 guys win at least 10 games. PLUS They went unbeaten during the playoffs. Just sayin

You know Peej, I thought the same thing. The 75 machine got better props simply b/c of the exciting World Series. Yes, 7-0 in the playoffs.

The '76 Reds might be the greatest offensive team ever, yes even better than the '27 Yankees because the Reds dominated far better competition in the post-integration era. They're also the only team to go undefeated in the postseason since the league championship format was introduced.

Worthless without the 1902 Pirates. Won the pennant by 27.5 games, led the league in every offensive category, and featured all-time greats like Honus Wagner, Jack Chesbro, Fred Clarke, and Deacon Phillippe.

1961 Yankees were overrated. They did one thing really well: Hit homeruns. And that was more than enough to dominate a really weak American League at that time.

did you used to watch them back then?

No but I don't think anybody watched the '27 Yankees either and everybody considers them to be one of the greatest teams of all-time. Tell me what makes the '61 Yankees one of the greatest teams of all-time besides the number of wins they had. The '61 Yankees are considered one of the greatest teams of all-time because of their offense but they were only middle of the pack in batting average (4th in AL) and didn't do a great job getting on base (9th in walks, 5th in OBP), had no team speed (10th in stolen bases) and didn't even their league in runs scored. What makes them so much better than a team like the 2009 Yankees or the 2007 Red Sox or the 2004 Red Sox, three teams that I don't see in anybody's all-time great teams lists?

Pre-SRBtiger existence. Not many people outside of tyrannosaurus peej and benchmcelroy were old enough to really analyze those teams.

i understand breaking down teams that I havent seen play, but its hard to throw out the overrated card on a team ive never seen play.

When the hell did I do this? I like Torre but I've always been pretty critical of him.

Bring up something relevant. TIA.
