Superdome is not visually recognizable. Sorry LA peeps. It looks like...a dome. Just like the other ones. It does not look unique.

I know you referenced American stadiums, but I'm willing to bet the most recognizable stadium to most Americans is the Roman Colloseum.

I'd say the Bird's Nest in Beijing is more recognizable to most Americans than any American sports arena.

people keep saying its not recognizable to the general population...Well, what does that mean? Non sports fans?

Most non sports fans cannot recognize any arenas....why? Cause they dont watch sports! Ok, so they cant recognize the dome...COuld they pick out Yankee stadium ? lol, frick no. SO what does it matter?

now, you want to get to talking about sports fans, and it has to be in the top 5. Maybe not 1, but close. Think how many people watch the Super bowl...How many watch the BCS championship game...Final 4....

Yep. Hosted more of both than any other. We could go global and say Beijing, Wembley and Allianz. But, I don't think that is the premise of the thread.

It wasn't even the first dome. The Astrodome is certainly more recognizable.

from someone whose area can't decide when to stop bullshitting long enough to build a dome, I'll have to unbiasedly say that the Super dome is the most recognizable dome.

the Georgia dome and other soft top domes look like a giant circus tent. but the real problem about the Georgia dome is not it's own fault. it's not easy to see from a distance. you can only see it somewhat by coming in on I20 from the West. and you can miss it if you don't know where to look.

So something has to be the first of its kind in order to be recognizable?

The Washington Monument wasn't even the first monument!

More people could spot the Georgia Dome before the Superdome.

The Domino Sugar factory in Chalmette is more recognizable than that circus tent. Just stop, your embarrassing yourself. No one believes that crap.

Not even close. Nothing about it looks unique. It's just another baseball stadium. I bet most people couldn't tell the difference between the old one and the new one.
