lunhow bout to pull some triggers. Bedard, Norris, Corporan, maybe even Carter could all be gone

Where you hearing this business about Carter?
Posted on 7/31/13 at 1:48 pm to Harry Caray
he's a long shot to be traded but if a team needs a power bat for DH he could be dealt

Rosenthal saying Bud to the Orioles is just about done. LJ Host (sp?) is one of the players

We got Kyle Smith from the Royals for Maxwell. 20 year old pitcher at high-A. 2.85 career ERA in 176 innings.

LJ Hoes baseball reference page. 23 year old hitting .304 at AAA.

Hoes appears to have no power and no speed and is already 23 years old. I hope we got more than that. I would have rather kept Norris. seriously, it looks like we are getting a Justin Maxwell minus the good defense

Maxwell hit .220 in AA.

We're getting a 23 year old OF with no power, no speed and a decent OBP. We basically traded Bud Norris for Robbie Grossman.

Scouting Grades* (present/future): Hit: 4/5 | Power: 3/4 | Run: 4/4 | Arm: 5/5 | Field: 5/6 | Overall: 4/5
Hoes spent the first couple of years in the organization as a second baseman, but made the move to the outfield in 2011. During the 2012 season, he saw time at all three outfield positions and is more than capable at any of them with the range for center and a strong enough arm for a corner. He's also improved with the bat a great deal, hitting well across two levels before making his big league debut in 2012. He projects to to be an average hitter now, using a controlled swing that makes consistent contact to all fields, and there might be more power to come in the future. He continues to be willing to take walks and while he doesn't have particularly good speed, he has excellent baserunning instincts. It's a package that's ready to hit Baltimore full time in the very near future.

From reading TCB, the Maxwell trade was a steal.
