At least he doesn't strike out too much. There's that.

He sounds like at best a 4th OF. Really shitty return. For what we got, I would have preferred to keep Bud.

Hoes is a utility player. walks more than he strikes out and has high obp but who cares. he has no pop at all for a guy who will playing corner OF more likely.
looks like Crane just didn't want a $3M player on the pay roll

Josh Hader rumored to be involved as well.
19 year-old LHP in Class A
79 K's in 85 IP, 2.65 ERA, 42 BB's.
The Orioles clearly like finding talent in their own backyard and Hader has the chance to be the best success story among the locals. The tall, skinny lefty saw his velocity take a huge leap forward during his summer debut in the organization. He was throwing his fastball in the 89-93 mph range and there could be room for more as he continues to get stronger. His curveball and changeup both have the chance to be at least Major League average and it looks like he'll have pretty good control of all three pitches. He's very athletic, which helps him repeat his delivery, fields his position and holds runners well. Because of his body type and potential for his stuff, he draws comparisons to White Sox lefty Chris Sale, something the Orioles wouldn't mind seeing at all.

We also got Josh Hader in the deal which I think is the better part of the deal.

have you kept up with Houston at all this year? Strike outs and OBP seems to be a piece that is missing from this team.
This is just buying time until September.
Then it'll be
Barnes
Springer
Hoes

I hope Hader is a legit prospect because Hoes is not
Posted on 7/31/13 at 2:55 pm to Prominentwon
so what if he walks. the next guy behind him will just strikeout
Posted on 7/31/13 at 2:55 pm to Tiger Ryno
Well the title of the thread should at least be "we got hoes"
ETA: I haven't double checked but I think he was recently up, or may still be up, with Baltimore. I thought I heard his name in one of their games over the weekend.

Runners on base.
something the Astros lack.
He doesn't K, so that means high contact.
Again, something the Astros have very little.

ok. not excited about it. If Hader really is a Chris Sale esque prospect this deal is worth it, but we won't know for 2-3 years. he's only in A ball

?@DannyKnoblerCBS 6m Josh Hader has been talked about, as @danconnollysun said. But some questions about his medicals. Possibility there's a switch.

I guess they aren't dealing Bedard.

isn't that the ultimate goal for everyone involved in the Astros system right now?
Posted on 7/31/13 at 3:00 pm to Prominentwon
they better get better by 2015 or people will be jumping off the LUnhow bandwagon. they need guys projected to be in Houston to start 2015 season.
Posted on 7/31/13 at 3:01 pm to Tiger Ryno
Hader is really young and has good numbers. Smith supposedly projects to be a No. 3 or 4 starter.

Seeing talk of Houston getting their competitive balance pick also...second pick Comp Round A.
