He kills chemistry because all he is good for is scoring. He's a liability on the defensive end and it shows. He's a great talent, but just has never put it all together.

As previously stated, Artest brings offense (albeit sporadic) and more importantly defense. This team now has two top 10 defenders on the court at the same time for much of the game.

The team is better now with Yao because of the style they are forced to play, and I think its a hit or miss style, while with Yao, they are more consistent. The team was relying on Yao too much in this series, and the injury has forced others to play more of a part.

honestly had yao not gotten hurt, you would've likely seen the same results. houston with wins in games 4 and 6, and LAL winning game 5. all 3 games probably would've been closer, but the results would've likely been the same..I just wish Yao could be out there...Remember, the great Jeff Van Gundy said that this would be LA's toughest series of the whole playoffs.

No one is saying TMac is a horrible player. The dude is a baller, but in the playoffs, when it counts, his teams struggle. The only common factor was him. He is a dynamic offensive player, but worthless on defense. This is the key. Kobe is overrated as a defender, but he's still a solid defender, nonetheless.

TMac has been maturing though, and had he not been injured this season, this may have been the year for him.

Not only that but it was obvious T mac was killing the Rockets this year. He came back from surgery way to soon and didn't rehab near enough. He was gimping all over the floor every game he played and was no where near the player he has been for the Rockets in the past. It was the first time in his career he had shot below 40% from the field and his ability to run the floor was never there. This season is a wash in my book for the Artest/Yao/T Mac experiment. Next year if he is rehabing and can come back from microfracture and if we resign Ron could be scary. Even without Ron and just the development of our younger guys with t mac and Yao is gonna be good.

Honestly, Yao going down was the best thing to happen to Houston for this series. Not saying he is not good because he is a great player. The Lakers like playing a fast game though. Yao slowed this team down from running with the Lakers. With Yao out the Rockets are running with the Lakers without being down a man on the defensive end. As a Lakers fan, I think Houston can win the game on Sunday. I just hope getting home court pays off even though I don't think Staples offers a very intimidating crowd.

T-Mac has something to prove in a contract year next year. Now that he actually has some decent role players around him who can score and play defense, I can't wait to see what he does. If they can resign Artest, watch out in 2010.

It still doesn't change the fact that they lack the length to defend Gasol and the interior in general. I'd rather have Yao.

Healthy T-Mac >>>>>>>>> Unhealthy T-Mac

It's a world of difference. Who knows what we'll get next year.

T Mac in a contract year is gonna be $$$ for the Rockets. He will play out of his mind. Just have to hope the rumors about him rehabing 6-8 hours a day to be ready for October are true.

I just think he is the most unlucky player in NBA history. The rockets would be better with McGrady.

When McGrady is in the offense runs through him, or through Yao.

Without those guys, the other players are free to take more shots.

Its not that McGrady kills chemistry, its that the offensive strategy changes and the tempo picks up when he's out.

He's also the best distributer of the ball the Rockets have to go along with him freeing up shots for other players. The Rockets have 4 players on the floor with a healthy lineup who comand a double team. How do you guard that?

It will be interesting to see what the Rockets do next year if they can't get rid of a healthy McGrady. Do they bench Artest, Battier, or Scola? Do they run the offense through Yao or McGrady? And do they allow Aaron Brooks to continue doing his best Chris Paul imitation, or do they make him defer to McGrady?

A bunch of players have responded with consistently great performances since McGrady was done for the year. Will Adelman and Morey just ask them to take a smaller role for one year?

Like Scola, who can score when he wants. He has some Dream-like spin moves in his arsenal. Great footwork. He had like 18 points at the half tonight.

I love how non-Rocket fans underestimate his offense.

Again, if you focus on getting yours (McGrady) and not on getting the W with the team, then you are going to lose

While I agree that his offensive game seems to hurt the team chemistry, you're statement about him just wanting to get his, that is completely wrong.

He averages 6.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists for his CAREER in the playoffs. That doesn't sound like the guy you mentioned.

where was the chemistry argument when he lead houston to 10 or 11 straight wins last year when yao was out?

10 or 11 straight?

Aren't you a Rockets fan?

It will be interesting. I don't know how Rick makes it work but I bet he would say it's a good problem to have.

He may be a liability on defense, but to say all he is good for is scoring is wrong.

Just look at his playoff stats.
