Yeah, it's beyond ridiculous that people actually think Urban should be fired because he lied to a couple of scumbag reporters who took it personally.
Outside of Zach Smith, Brett McMurphy is the biggest piece of shite to come out of this. He cared more about his story and setting up a new job than he did the alleged victim. Why does Brett McMurphy support beating women?

University rules and regulations he's bound to follow per his contract, this is not addressing the addendum he signed earlier this year this is his original contract containing broad language about future rules OSU may institute which obviously still controls

Gonna have to wait to see what the fact-finding reveals, I theorize it was a reactionary measure by OSU to the McMurphy texts contradicting Meyer’s media day statements and damage control

Logically speaking, this makes the most sense.
The only really compelling argument for the quick firing after the news broke is that Zach Smith was told that more problems would lead to his dismissal. But I believe that the ex-wife had been talking to the coaches wives and I doubt she'd keep quiet about any incidents in the intervening years.
And if that is the case, why suspend Urban Meyer once the news breaks that the ex-wive confided everything to Shelley Meyer? That gives the insinuation that Meyer did something wrong; Ohio State could have easily addressed the issue with a press release and not with administrative leave with pay.

Really? You think if they were fully informed, that they couldn't have dealt with this by issuing a press release explaining the situation?
You're probably right; Ohio State's idea of damage control is putting their famous head coach on administrative leave with pay instead of explaining the situation. I can't see how that spirals out of control.
