The rain delay took this one to a whole new level
The rain delay was a huge buzz kill. I understand it helped the Cubs, but for a neutral observer it blew.

Ya you know there are insecurities out there when one claims an unnecessary rain delay made the game more enjoyable.
Especially at near midnight on a Wednesday. Terrible

Christ I think even golf would have played the game out during the rain
Between that and the dozens of stoppages for other mundane reasons that game was not enjoyable and took entirely too long
Sounds like you toughed it out though

Being fortunate to be there in the stands last night makes it better for me. I think great baseball games are like great songs everyone has a favorite and each person is right it's all about opinion. The '75, 91, 04 and 06 series were all awesome. Each one was great in its own unique way.

Cards Rangers game 6 was a better game. But this was a game 7 which is the only reason it gets the nod.
Cards Rangers game 6 had one thing that will never be outdone. TWO different times in that game cards were down to 2 outs and 2 strikes and scored runs in extras.

great baseball game. ill start watching again next year when the playoffs start
No you won't. Any idea what the ratings decrease was from 2004 Red Sox World Series to 2007 Red Sox World Series?
40% decline, say what you want but Cubs winning yesterday was bad for MLB. They really needed this to drag for a few more years.

It only feels that way to Cubs fans. It was one of the better baseball games I've ever seen, sure, but it needed it's moment.

I think game 7 of the 97 series deserves to be mentioned as well.

Game 6 of that series was probably even better.
I don't know if people remember just how good the '91 Series was. Except for one blowout, every game was gut wrenching and 6 and 7 were incredible. Bot went to extra innings and there was never really a lull in the action where one team pulled significantly ahead of the other. Game 6 also had one of the iconic WS moments with Puckett's homer and Jack Buck's call "And we'll see you tomorrow night!"
Last night was a game 7, so that has to be considered. But man, game 6 in 1991 was intense!
Also, Kriby Puckett may have had the best single game in WS history. He went 3/4 with a single, triple, sac fly to drive in 3 of the Twins 4 runs that night including the WO homer in the 11th. He also jumped about 12 feet off the ground to rob an extra base hit up against the wall.

I do not think it was as good as Game 1 in 88 or Game 7 in 91 but it is close.

Rangers might have won if they would have let this guy play.

It was missing a signature moment. Kirk Gibson, Joe Carter, etc...

Again, that was just a moment for Cubs fans. Things like Gibson and Carter's HRs are legendary to all baseball fans. Jack Morris throwing 10 scoreless innings in 91' is a signature moment.

The 1991 World Series was so great it almost ruined baseball for the rest of my life. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, has lived up to how tense that whole Series was. And Game 6 and 7... geez. What a pair of games.
We'll see you... tomorrow night!

It might not have been the greatest ever, but it was a damn good game. Damn good.
