Teams figured Newton out in the 2nd half of the season last year. -Over the final eight games, Newton averaged 207 passing yards a game, 18th over that time. -Newton's 7.21 yards per attempt over the season's second half was 14th best in the NFL and worse than, among others, Matt Moore's average. - Quarterbacks who averaged more passing yards per game than Newton in the second half of the season: John Skelton, Mark Sanchez and Alex Smith. -Since 1991, 21 quarterbacks have rushed for at least six touchdowns in a season, but only one has rushed for at least six touchdowns two years in a row (Tebow) Look for a regression. Couple that with no WRs outside of Smith and no TE, and Carolina is looking at 8-8

What he said. I like Cam, I said even before last year that he'd be successful... But the way he plays is defendable and the last half of the season proved that. He needs to learn how to read defenses and attack weaknesses, and until that happens they are 8-8 at best.

By getting better do you mean eclipsing his numbers from last season or winning more games? Will he match his numbers, no, IMO. Will the team be better and win more games, possibly. They get a few guys back on D and added Mike Tolbert to their already stout running game.

I was just showing numbers to show he regressed once defenses had a chance to game plan for him. Now they have a whole offseason. Although, there is no real way to stop a beast like Cam when he takes off running.

The Panthers have had trouble staying healthy at LB the last few years. Drafting Kuechly was a nice pick though.

Joe Adams

not a bad pick there. They needed more help at WR. Steve Smith can still play but he's not getting any younger at 33.

The Panthers have to get better on defense if they want to do anything.

Carolina ran 24 plays inside the 5 last year with Newton carrying it on 20 of those plays. He'll probably pad his stats again this year in the rushing department. He should have another solid season but I don't know if he'll top what he did last year. Most people doubted him so hard before last year began and he made them look stupid.

Carolina's defense was atrocius last season and they weren't consistent enough on offense to make up for that. What hell did they do to improve on defense? Next to nothing. Beason barely has knees anymore so not sure why the OP listed him.

I was just pondering him improving overall as a player.

Right, they adjust to him, will he adjust back?

We don't know yet. He seems to have that mentality, though.

Cam rather put up great stats and run around with his superman pose and like he's an airplane than win games.

I was totally wrong on Newton, and he made me look foolish. The sky is the limit with this kid.

Actually, from everything I've read, he's one of the hungriest guys to win in that locker room.

No, I'm not going to be a little bitch and act like he isn't going to be an elite QB for his entire career just because he played for Auburn. It's like saying Bo Jackson was garbage because he played for Auburn.

did you just compare cam newton to bo jackson??

Newton avoids a Sophomore slump and only gets better as his targets are better and he now has an offseason under his belt and a full season with his team. Their defense gets better, their OL is still one of the best in the league, and D-Will/Stewart is a deadly combo.

You might want to look to last season, where they both sucked (Stewart was on my fantasy team and he didnt even sniff 1K)

They do have Greg Olsen, they added Mike Tolbert..and supposedly WR Louis Murphy is having a good camp opposite Steve Smith.

Underestimating them might be the worse possible tihng
