I doubt Roddick wins 10 games the entire match.
Boy was I wrong. In another thread, I said I didn't care if Andy won or not, but I definitely found myself pulling for him. He played amazing. I really feel bad for him.
Federer has 15 Slams, but Roddick gets to go home and frick Brooklyn Decker. Advantage--Roddick.

I would love to see that, but we need to find the heir to the American throne.
Tennis has a tough road for gaining traction in the US these days. It is a difficult sport both mentally and physically and there are too many team sports for kids to play. Pile on top of that the difficulty for American kids to get college scholarships, and you have a lot of strong athletes playing other sports.

I don't think Federer is on the down side yet
sure looked like that last year. Before losing in the French to Nadal again and the epic Wimbledon final, he lost to Djokvic in the Australian semi's. After losing in the AO this year, he was struggling for a bit on hard courts. Now he's been rejuvinated, we'll see what happens in NYC.

he might be able to ignite some legit interest in the states. I would love to see that, but we need to find the heir to the American throne.
it's just to hard in this football, basketball, and baseball( and in that order) driven country.

There's no doubt about that, I think that kind of goes without saying, but we only need one guy (and that guy is not James Blake).

No doubt. He'll have a great chance there. I'm surprised he even took Fed to 5, let alone the fact that the 3 sets Federer won were all tiebreakers/extra play. At the US, where he's on his best surface, watch out.
i just hope he builds on this match instead of letting it deflate him. this was probably the best match of his career. nobody expected him to push federer like that. hopefully he'll see it as a good thing and a confidence builder. i think he has a legit shot to win the USO. if he plays there the way he played today he'd beat anyone other than possibly fed at very top of his game (yes, he'd whip nadal on that hard court if he served like that)

Federer is my favorite athlete of all time.

And I could see Andy going either way.

That makes absolutely no sense.

Roddick is so mentally fragile, I could see him melting down and playing like dog shite the rest of the year

it does. federer is just a douche

But he's still not as bad mentally as he used to be. When he collapsed in that 2nd set tie break, I thought he was going to completely self-destruct and Fed would win the next two sets something like 6-4, 6-3.
If this had happened to him even 2 years ago, I'd agree, but I'm not as sure today. It'll be interesting.

I expected Roddick to fold up going into this match with Federer and he certainly didn't do that, not even in the fifth.
If he takes that mindset and keeps it going he can pull it off.

I'm rewatching the 5th set right now and just got to the point where it's 8-8, Federer serving down 15-40, and Roddick couldn't break. Forgot he was that close at any point in the set to breaking.

Right. The greatest player of all time who could probably have also played pro soccer who is also tri-lingual, stylish, gracious and graceful. Must be awesome being a douche.
