Well it would have been nice of the offense to let Hinch know that beforehand and maybe he would have saved JV for today instead of wasting him last night when the mission was already accomplished.

stupid to speculate about it but kinda ok with it, I wouldn't want a bullpen game and the Yankees lineup getting looks at the entire bullpen right before Game 6 if JV only managed to go 6

Alvarez needs to be on the bench tonight. He’s clearly not ready for the bright lights at his age. Let him sit a game and relax instead of going 0 for 4 again.

Nah

Yed will only see one RH, Green

That’s his chance. IF, IF, IF he can avoid an 0-2 or 1-2 count, he has a chance

Otherwise, he goes 0-4 facing 3 lefties the rest of the way

Strange to see him struggle so much, but it’s clear that he hasnt been comfortable getting challenged in the zone.

He made his living during the season waiting on his pitch to hit, and the Rays & Yankees haven’t allowed that

He is flat out missing high strikes trying to lift

He should have some groundballs, just law of avgs

But when ur plane stays consistently upward on high heat, you drastically reduce ur chances to square up. You foul balls back.

These guys are playing with him like Vince Vaughn’s character in Swingers. Knives on a bunny rabbit.

Swing on top of the ball! It’s the fricking playoffs! We need more hard contact if we’re gonna get out of this 4 for 39 run. Once he’s down in the count, he’s done.

The other side of it is pressure. As a struggling decent golfer, I can tell you that the “moment” is not to be taken lightly. Trust me, he’s feeling it.

No doubt, like I said, he’s clearly not comfortable being attacked in the zone. He hit a ton of balls out on guys trying to sneak breaking pitches or change ups in for strikes in the bottom of the zone (While he was ahead In The count), or up if they made bad pitches.

Yankees especially have challenged him to swing more often and he’s not adjusting well

Plus now he’s pressing because he’s been struggling

I haven’t seen a breakdown of how he has specifically done vs level of competition, but I remember 2 HRs off position players

Guys geared for the best, don’t typically hammer that shite. Just an observation.

Not every team all year can make sure he’s facing a lefty or righty w GOOD stuff, so he will get his, and be a great piece of the puzzle.

But will he be the guy we hope when it matters
most? He deserves the chance.

Period
