Now do the players have to actually play the position?

Take LF for Yankees for example, they really have not had a good one during my time.
Yet I could slide Rickey Henderson (CF) or Dave Winfield (RF) into the LF spot for Mel Hall.

They both did play 1 season in LF for the Yankees Rickey in 88 and for 60 games in 89. Winfield early 80's then switched to RF.

Or do they actually have to play the position?

I'd probably put Roger Clemens on the list too, I don't care if he's a douche bag.

Roger Clemens is a douchebag that's why he's not on my list. The last spot was between him and Elduque and I just decided I liked Orlando better.

That would be mine as well, althoguh I might (might) have to replace Lemke with Hubbard. Hubby was a heluva second baseman back in the 80s.

My all-lifetime Oakland A's team:

LF Rickey Henderson
CF Joe Rudi
RF Reggie Jackson
1B Mark McGwire

SS Miguel Tejada
C Terry Steinbach
DH Jose Canseco

SP Jim "Catfish" Hunter

RP Rollie Fingers
RP Dennis Eckersley

Manager Dick Williams

I can't believe I had to leave Gene Tenace, Jason Giambi and Bert Campaneris (played all 9 positions in a game once)off the team, but they would be my back ups.

I debated about the Lemke/Hubbard choice. But in the end, I decided to stick with the Lemmer. Single handedly carried the Braves in the 1991 WS. Had they won the series, he would have been named MVP.
