Has anyone mentioned the Dirty Projectors & Bjork album? Obviously it's vocal heavy, but I think it's beautiful.

didn't know that it had been released yet. I heard one of the singles on p4k and it was kewl. I'll have to check out the rest.

I look at it as music to get really high and space out to.

I gave that Dirty Projectors/Bjork EP a listen. Very interesting vocal work. Not something I'll listen to regularly but it's nice to get lost in their experimentation.

MIA always sucked. Glad Pitchfork has finally become aware of it.

Doubt i'll listen to it. Unless some song becomes overblown on the radio.
Dont know much about her but i saw her perform at the BET award show (i think), and she was like nine months pregnant about to have a baby in a mini skirt Pretty much was done with her after that.
That and The Clash song she ripped off of was 10x better.

Her Kala album isn't too bad. I'm not terribly interested in hearing her new stuff though

I am enjoying the two new Panda Bear tracks. Neither is near a "Bros", but what is?

I just listened to the new track on NPR, it wasn't bad but wasn't great either.

And whoever was pushing the Dr. Dog album, thank you. I've had it on my iPhone for weeks but finally got around to listening to it. Awesome album.

Pitchfork is a big pile of crap hipster haven who like to rate great albums poorly so they can increase their indy cred.

That being said, Pitchfork festival in Chicago is a great deal (cheap) and usually has some awesome bands. Lineup this year looks really good.

for all the backlash pitchfork gets, I'm indebted to all the new music they've told me about. granted more often than not I don't 'get' what they love, but when I do it's amazing (Bon Iver being the best example I can think of)

Pitchfork isn't nearly as bad cokemachineglow when it comes to bashing anything that approaches popular. But the Onion's AV Club is the best site for indie rock and, well, anything pop culture related.

Arctic Monkeys
Snow Patrol

Just wanted to list 2 more I consider to be in the generic "hipster minimalist" category.

A good example of the hipster minimalists that I like would be The Fratellis (Baby Fratelli is just raucously magnificent) and Franz Ferdinand. I also don't mind Keane.

I think the Arctic Monkeys first album is one of the greatest things ever recorded. I love that album so so much.

What is the very best song on that one? I will listen with a completely open mind.
