You can go on YouTube and watch some of those really early seasons….the style of the show is so very different from today’s episodes, but still entertaining.

P.S. 288 is hyperbole

I was still playing along. Seemed funnier to just go with it.

I learned 2 things from watching Cops…….

1) if male, you reduce your chance of getting arrested by 75% by wearing a shirt

2) whenever the cops show up at a house at 3am and the front door is open with a dog barking and they go inside and there’s a man sitting watching tv smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer, he ALWAYS says the same thing- ‘She hit me first’

3) every suspected DUI only had 2 drinks.....

4) On every sketchy traffic stop, the car does NOT belong to the driver…it’s “my cousin’s friend’s baby sitter’s car”

Vice, who are leftwing nut bags, did a documentary on the show that tried to prove how racist the show was. But some interesting points were that the cops had total control of what could be released, the camera men got involved in taking running suspects down a few times when they ran, and people would almost always sign waivers allowing their arrest, no matter how embarrassing, to be aired.

There are a bunch of good youtube cop channels.

MrInsanity
Midwest Safety
DDH

Probably a bunch more. We love watching these.

All documentary style videos with narration using body cam and other video surveillence sources.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have been allowed to air any of them without the defendants' agreement. I'm tempted to believe that maybe they were shown some leniency by the judge if they signed off on the release but that seems like it would be against the law. It's possible that all of the people involved were just that trashy that they were willing to be shown on Cops.
