I think it has more to do with the release of Captain America 2 and timing the events of the show with the events of the movie.
Episode 16 airs airs March 25 with episode 17 on April 1.
Then on April 4 CATWS releases.

I know it won't happen and it may have even been revealed recently (I'm avoiding CATWS spoilers like crazy) but I think it would be really cool if the Clairvoyant ended up being Tim Blake Nelson as Leader.
He had that stuff drop on him and make his head mutate in Incredible Hulk and it would be a little disappointing if they just completely drop that story thread.
