A few people in Seasons 1 & 2 brought them. 1 guy last season made his own out of a spook of fishing line.
They "only" get 10 survival items. So, a gill net is a risk vs. a spool of line & some hooks. Where they are in Patagonia does not look like much of a gill net success rate area with rivers or streaming waters.

Funny the first two to leave are "Wilderness Skills Teachers." Always seems to be a country boy that works a labor job that excels. I am interested to see how the females, the drywaller, and the guy from Maine perform. They seem like interesting personalities.

Are they supplied with all the water they need? I never see them searching for or boiling water.

I've seen people boil their water. I think last season someone's pot spilled into their fire

Seeing the sun but not being able to feel it would be so psychologicaly challenging. I feel for the guy.

Probably just edit that part out. Too bad too because I love watching me some water boil.

Well one of the first things I would do in a survival situation is find a source of fresh water and the topic of drinking water hasn't come up once since I started watching halfway through last season.

Water has never really been a focus on this show. They spend a lot of time on it on Naked and Afraid and Dual Survivor, but they have so many separate people to follow on Alone, I think they choose to show other things.

No supply of fresh water supplied. Though they have pretty decent access to streams. Also, they're in a much cooler climate & aren't losing as much as water as a Naked & Affraid contestant.
I'm really pumped at the high quality of shelters being built so far. I know I post a lot about this point & it's just so satisfying. Having a legit place to rest, be in while able to organized your gear, & actually move around in is such a massive mental advantage.
I also really like the 1 guy that seems to be building a 2nd higher ground shelter. Also the ledge wall trail build was impressive.
The guy that stored his extra fish in a running stream trap really impressed me too, so far. I think weaving a branch basket would be smarter than just laying some sticks over some rocks.
Something else I noticed they don't really show is any of the contestants marking their camp sites with their urine. I'd be pissing all around my site perimeter to keep the night wildlife as far away as possible...

Fowler is now my & my son's favorite just on the boat duck trap alone. Awesome.

They've shown/mentioned people dealing with water issues in past seasons. I can't remember if it was the first or second season, but one guy was right at the mouth of a river. For whatever reason, he thought he could try drinking the water without boiling it because he figured the river water might be safe. He ended up hallucinating and tapping out. As another poster mentioned, there was another guy that was boiling water. He had a mental lapse and knocked his pot of water over. I can't remember exactly what happened, but I think it put out his fire and he couldn't get another going, so he tapped out.
So yea, they've definitely shown the issue of water come up before, but I don't think they care to show that footage unless it plays a part in whether or not the contestant taps out.
