They could very possibly kill Thanos early in the movie but there’s no way he doesn’t come back in the end. Reversing the snap can only carry the movie so far and it’s basicallt confirmed this thing is gonna be 2 hours and 45+ minutes. Has to be an opposing force for them to fight against and killing off Thanos early and NOT bringing him back would be a very unpopular decision

Maybe they defeat the wounded Thanos but he’s just like it’s all for nothing because you can’t bring them back and so they decide to go back home or something. They either get their asses kicked again or they beat his arse but can’t or don’t kill him, demoralized that if they kill him then it still won’t bring anyone back.
I believe those shots on that Smokey planet with Nebula and Cap is early in the movie. No way they show the climatic battle right? I know they have before but I have a feeling there’s going to be two major battle scenes

I would bet Thanos is defeated early and then they rebuild time before the snap so it never happens, but another major threat comes to light due to them messing with the time line. Say Kang, Galactus or even Dr. Doom and it kicks off phase 4 with a major galactic threat.

I can see Galactus in Phase 4 or 5.
I can see them killing Thanos off early just to throw people but there’s no way he isn’t coming back. He might not have as big a role. Maybe they kill him off and he doesn’t come back until half way through and he either figures out what they’re doing (assuming he survived their attack) or the new Thanos from another timeline follows them or their timeline to stop them. Frick it. I have no clue. I would just hate it if they killed him early and didn’t bring him back

Either Thanos with the snap or the Avengers mucking around in the Quantum Realm unleashes Annilius and the incoming annihilation wave. Remember one constant through all the Avengers movies are the heroes fighting massive hordes of something.

Doom or Kang need an actor in place.
Of course, I’d love to see the Cosmic Entities like The Living Tribunal (with Strange in tow) make an appearance.
