Why wouldn’t NASA build backup body doubles for each or at least one extra generic model? All that technology and no backup. Made no sense.

There would have been no episode if they did that.

watched the demon one last night. It was also enjoyable but probably won't ever watch again. Although I think the premise of "you have to do XYZ or the world ends" is a bit flimsy, I liked going along for the ride. I was interested in seeing how it'd paly out and I liked both main characters. I liked that we get confirmation the demon is correct and since the girl failed that the world is in fact about ot end. But then she decides to live in eternal nothingness wiht the demon? What? Did she forget that it's actually a hellacoius terrifying scary as shite DEMON and not the actual man she saw on the TV? And maybe I just forgot already but did we ever get an explation on WHY the world woudl end if this person didn't kill 3 poeple?

For season 6 loch henry and beyond the sea are the only 2 I might ever have an inclination to watch again

A lot of solid episodes but nothing spectacular. Demon 79 and Loch Henry were both good but not sure if I would consider them "Black Mirror" episodes. They felt like something that would have been on those V/H/S anthology horror movies from a few years back.

Beyond the Sea was probably the closest to what I wanted from the series but not sure if I would watch it again.

Striking Vipers is probably the last Black Mirror episode that I thought was a stand out. So it has been a while.

Those are my favorite style of Black Mirror episodes. Sort of futurology type episodes. Guessing where tech may lead type stuff.

Maybe I’m in the minority here but I liked all the episodes. I’d rank them
1. Beyond The Sea
2. Mazey Day
3 . Loch Henry
4. Joan is awful
5. Demon 79

I liked all of them too, but for me, only Beyond the Sea and Joan is Awful are Black Mirror-style stories.

I think of Black Mirror stories as a slightly different alternate reality, with some tech that we don't have quite yet. And the use of that tech makes us consider the moral/ethical implications that we'll have to deal with if/when that tech becomes reality.

Don’t know why folks aren’t liking Joan is Awful. That one is as Black Mirror as they come.

Idk. I really enjoyed the insight into the papparazzi world. I was also VERY engaged and on edge when they were sneaking into that remote California rehab center. You obviously know something fricky is afoot by the way the mob style guys were protecting her.

Season was eh. 5/10. Not impressed. Couple of decent plot twists but not black mirror material. Disappointed.

at this point I think what we've been getting lately is normal "blakc mirror" and they just got lucky by hitting a couple grand slams right out of the gate early. That set up entirely unrealistic expectations for them and the viewers. There've been 27 episodes (not counting bandersnatch) released so far, how many woudl you say are truly grade A work? Maybe like 8ish? If only ~30% of your stories are truly good ones then I'd say those are the actual outliers at this point wiht the "meh, another ho hum average one" episodes being the norm.

Finished it tonight. Am I missing something with Mazey Day? I mean where tf did the werewolf idea come from? Just completely out of left field and not black mirror at all. Loch Henry was good but not black mirror. Demon 79 felt lazy. The dialogue was entertaining but the story line was weak. Joan is awful was okay. Beyond the sea was great. Overall very disappointed with where this show has fallen to

I liked Loch Henry, but I don't know why it's a Black Mirror episode.

I don't recall their having done a more traditional horror episode, previously. It felt like an A24 movie.

Beyond the Sea was great.

This. I really enjoyed it, but didn’t feel like a black mirror ep. I also enjoyed beyond the sea, but Joan is awful was meh at best. Only watched the first three so far.

I don't think that's fair.

S1: entire history of you, 15 million merits, national anthem. They are all excellent. And yes, we have grown accustomed to the tech aspect of black mirror, but remember E1 of the entire series is the pig fricking episode. 3 for 3 hits.

S2: be right back, white bear, Waldo, white Christmas. 3 of the 4 are A quality. Waldo is the first drop off episode, but it is followed by potentially the best one in the series. 6 for 7.

S3: nosedive, play test, shut up and dance, san junipero, men against fire, hates im the nation. This season is peak BM. Every episode is great, every episode uses a tech mindfrick and is a wild ride. I didn't love hated in the nation, but I may need to rewatch. 11 for 13

S4: USS calister, arkangel, crocodile, hang the DJ (my favorite episode), metalhead, black museum. This season is more peak BM. Great episodes all around. Arkangel and crocodile are middling, but they keep us entertained by relying on the alternate reality tech that built the universe. 15 for 19.

Bandersnatch - doesn't count really. Netflix wanted to try out their interactive viewing and was their test subject, no grade.

S5: Ashley too, smithereens, striking vipers. This is where we get a decline. Smithereens was a nothing, but Ashley too and vipers were both half good. Vipers was a great concept, it was just a very uncomfortable watch. You're right though, none of these are great or rewarchable. 15 for 22.

Which brings us to S6. Mazey day was art house trash, the rest are good, and beyond the sea was very good. I'd rank them: Beyond the sea, demon 79 (fun and rewarchable), Joan is awful, loch Henry, mazey day.

Loch Henry was good, but it was predictable, I'm putting it below the ranking cutoff.

Which means I'm coming to a grade of 18 of 27 episodes are what want and why we love black mirror. If an anthology series is pitching 66% on good episodes, that's not bad. I don't think 66% of LDR episodes are good.

Beyond the sea was the best and most Black Mirror like.

I enjoyed Demon 79. I liked the story but it wasn’t really Black Mirror. It felt like if Grind House had a third story and someone was trying to mimic Tarantino.

Joan is awful is ok. It had some laughs and the story was Black Mirroresque. I know they kind of had to but all the famous actors kind of took me out of it.

Loch Henry. Not Black Mirror at all. Someone earlier said it felt like a A24 horror short nailed it. I didn’t hate it but probably would not rewatch.

Mazey Day. Garbage. Dumb as frick and disjointed.

I came to this thread to see if people complained about Mazey Day. This was by far the worst Black Mirror episode I've ever watched.

In addition to the stupid werewolf twist, the writing was bad. I really hate it when plots move forward due to happenstance. The main character just so happens to get stranded at a diner with a waiter whose uncle works at a rehab facility where a famous mystery guest is staying. How convenient!

Pure garbage.
