I'm off Thursday, I think I'm gonna go see it around lunch.

I've tried not to read too much about it. I was under the impression it was an incredible horror film and one of the best scary movies out in a while. Now after skimming this thread it almost seems like a parody? Am I understanding correctly that it's more poking fun at the industry moreso than it is an actual scary movie? If that's the case then I don't know if I want to go as much anymore.

Cabin in the Woods is the best horror parody/film since Scream came out in 1996.

It's like Scream in that it parodies horror films while keeping a serious/dark tone to it all.

Ooooh ok, I'm back on board then. Scream was still a fantastic scary movie. I got the idea from reading some comments that it was more like Scary Movie than Scream, and was basically a comedy centered around a horror plot.

Hate using words like this, but it is meta....self aware. References abound from other movies, themes, at one point "REDRUM" is mentioned but in a way that you may not even notice.

I will buy just to watch again.

If you are a horror fan you will gets lots of references.

I loved it and had fun pointing some out to boy after the movie.

Boy hates horror and still liked it.

Also, I always laugh my arse off at scary movies. It was not a comedy.

I did go home and put on evil dead.

Its just a fun time. Not really "scary" but what is these days?

Gf and I caught this last night. The trailer doesn't really give too much away because I watched the trailer and it was interesting enough to get my attention, but didn't tell me a whole lot about what was going on. I was expecting a straightforward "horror" movie but then some underlying shite going on. And that's basically all u need to know going into it.

We didn't really like it at first...it was campy and annoying, but then you start to realize that that's the point.

Definitely a fresh take in the genre and something that is interesting and entertaining. We both ended up really liking it.

Besides, it has Eric from Billy Madison in it. And that's awesome in itself. Also, the weedhead dude (I called him Shaggy) has to bs related to the geeky dude from Summer School. Has to be.

About to run errands so can't post much. It was crazy and definitely not what I expected. I'm glad I didnt know anything about it, I think if I had known the exact plot going in it wouldn't have been as enjoyable. Like the op said its got a little bit of everything and has a lot of elements of different genres all in there. Im not gonna buy it or watch it again in theaters, but I would absolutely recommend it to others.
