Typical greedy Hollywood woman.
I would be shaking mad if I was Cate Blanchett and got paid only half a million for 18 days worth of filming in that ugly country called New Zealand for LOTR. How do these people survive.

Astin suggested that New Line Cinema paid the cast more by the time "The Return of the King" arrived in theaters in 2003.
"We agreed not to talk about it, but when it came time to do publicity for the third film, I was feeling a little bit better, is that a good way to get around that?" he said.
seemed like the whole cast got a couple million dollar Christmas bonus

This is such an odd take. In no universe was Liv Tyler ever an A List star. If Ian McKellen is B List, Tyler would be a C at best. Though she did have that one title role in Jersey Girl.
You’re using present tense, which is true. McKellen is bigger now and she’s fallen off the map.
But they we’re finalizing the cast in 1999. Tyler was popular in the 90s as the hot daughter of Steven Tyler, she’d been in Armageddon, That Thing You Do. I never said she was A list either, just that she was a hot name at the time, hence why she got a big billing.
What big blockbuster movies had Mckellan been in or the others for that matter? He was a bit, character actor that had done a ton of movies but nothing huge. Bloom was unknown, Elijah Wood had Flipper, Deep Impact and Huck Finn, Astin had Goonies, Viggo had parts in GI Jane and Crimson Tide, Sean Bean may have had the biggest role prior with Goldeneye.
None of them were bonafide A list stars at the time of casting in 1998-1999 to demand huge pay days is my point.

yeah bloom did all his own stunts as well, but he wasn't a name then either. It helped, I'm sure, to land him later roles like Pirates which I'm sure he got paid a very generous sum. Think of it like a rookie contract. lol

Kind of crazy to think some Yoga instructor got paid more for 2.5 weeks appearance fee on the traitors tv show than Sean Astin got paid for 1.5 years of work for the greatest trilogy in movie history.

LOL at all the people who think Sean Aston is some major leading man who deserves a big payday. Dude was the lead in one movie that earned more than $1000 at the box office. He’s a child actor or soulful character actor who shows up for a tiny role.
