I searched but couldn't find a thread. Has it been discussed here? I watched it last night. It was alright. Okay, better than just alright but I wasn't absolutely crazy about it. It did have its moments, though.

My main issue with it was Matt Smith. I thought his character was terrible. And his accent was too heavy, I couldn't always understand what he was saying. The rest was pretty decent.

Didn't have high expectations for it, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. Thought Butler was good.

I did as well. It’s one of my favorite movies of the year. It was a lot darker than I anticipated (didn’t see that death halfway through coming) and was just a good time.

Aronofski is such a phenomenal director when he’s on his game. I want to see this mainly for him. He’s also let me down in the past though, so I’m cautiously optimistic

I feel like he wouldn’t have been able to just flee the scene of a drunk driving fatality accident and be able to just move on with his life and bartend in Chinatown. I believe the movie says or implies he was never tracked down or arrested from that.

Bump...this is on Netflix. Just watched it. Funny seeing Prince Philip as a punk.
Movie got way darker than expected. I enjoyed it and I thought Butler was good.

I watched this finally really enjoyed it. Don’t entirely agree with the above, but understand the sentiment.
Sinners had a bit of more weight but I’d rather this win best picture than Sinners. And I say this as somebody who liked Sinners a lot, and disagrees with the piling on.
