He found his niche and seems perfectly happy and is incredibly successful in it. Just because he doesn’t have a traditional acting career, doesn’t mean he hasn’t been awesome at what he does.
This is true, and also a totally different conversation than the one being had in this thread.
To pretend that that was Hamill's plan immediately following the original star wars plans would be disingenuous. And it's clear from the conversation here that if Daisy Ridley ended up with a similar career, it would considered a disappointing film career.

If I'm not already an established actor, I'd worry about starring in a Star Wars film due to typecasting.

FINALLY. I've been waiting for someone to do a movie on her. She's a badass and one of the first women to join the CIA.

She's the Hayden Christenson of this series. Not good looking enough to be the hot girl in romantic comedies, not a good enough actor to get more serious roles.
She also has the misfortune of not being Felicity Jones. With both taking lead roles in Star Wars movies, it’s impossible not to compare them, and anything Ridley does well, Jones does better.

I liked her introduction to the SW story, but as things progressed and it was clear her character was nothing but a Mary Sue, my interest in her waned. And the whole Reylo garbage.., well, I never saw TROP, so that's about as bad as it can get, I suppose.

This new trilogy was just really bad due to identity politics being pushed too much.
That played a part for sure. So did trying to shift the creative direction mid-trilogy (which I personally think was the most damaging thing) and then shift back
Those things were both bad but the primary problem was the character assassination of the OT's central character.
They didn't even do it in an intelligent or interesting way. The character just inexplicably regressed off screen from the guy who fearlessly confronted Vader and the Emperor (to redeem his father) to a person who tries to murder his nephew in his sleep.
