I think Rian could make a great Standalone SW trilogy or film

You just can't give him a main entry into a major franchise

He is a guy that wants to subvert expectations and be shocking

That is fine, as long as you aren't ruining beloved characters and lore

I think having him around the legacy characters was a huge mistake

Just like GRRM take your paycheck, sit down and shut the frick up. Fade into irrelevance where you belong.

The sequels tried to avoid the world-building we saw in the prequels, and it ended up biting the filmmakers in the arse from a narrative standpoint. The biggest WTF in my mind was the fact that the New Republic seemed to be neutral in the conflict between the Resistance and the First Order. With the latter being an insurrectionist movement attempting to reconstitute imperial control over the galaxy, wouldn't it make sense for the New Republic to, I don't know, fight with the Resistance or incorporate them into their military?

It was just a very poorly conceived attempt from the start.

I would say... don't even do the actual "sequel" trilogy. That was stupid on so many fronts, and doomed the franchise. Just delete them, and leave the "future" open.

Rogue One was ok. Andor was great, and elevates Rogue One significantly, to "good".
You can put Solo into "ok", but honestly should have been several films, maybe even a trilogy. Too much happened in that one movie, without a sense of time between events. You can overlay that with the Andor timeline, with Solo and Andor being similar types of characters. Ideally, you have some cutscenes of Solo in Rogue One (which would follow, not come out before Andor).
That should have been done first.

You then can come in with The Mandalorian and Mandoverse, including Ahsoka and Boba Fett (which needed to be done better). That would build towards the next big movies.

Honestly you could do away with most of the rest, although I guess you can keep "Goonies in space". And of course the Bad Batch, and the one-off Star Wars Visions stuff.

Had they done that, this franchise would likely be in great shape.

Yeah, Patty Jenkins got well deserved praise for Wonder Woman, but WW 1984 got panned because it was trash. There's nothing unfair or misogynistic about it.

Dan and Dave were crushing it as long as GRRM could feed them notes on a finished story. But as soon as that ran dry, they were toast. Frauds. Even admitted as much and it cost them a Star Wars trilogy. So credit to KK for that one, at least?

Todd Phillips had a great track record of good to great movies, but after Joker he face planted with Joker 2.

Kathryn Bigelow had really good success.

Just sick and tired of this BS about 'women being unfairly targeted for critcism when it's demonstrably NOT TRUE.
