Just binge watched this yesterday and today. That ending was ridiculous. I do not believe Dexter would have killed that police officer.

It was still infinitely better than lumberjack dexter

I guess so. At least I won't have to wonder if they can come up with another season. I have no interest in watching a show focused on Harrison.

Harrison gets no peace in a town that loved him and is now a fugitive for murder driving the truck of the man he slayed. Angela is now going to have to cover for the murder of Dexter

I assumed Angela would say she shot Dexter. Make up a story about having Harrison’s gun and she shot a cop killing escaped fugitive.

Curious how people feel about the Ketamine/M99 issue?

Dexter used M99 in the original series, but switched to Ketamine in New Blood. Angela was Googling(?) the BHB case and saw articles that said Ketamine was found in the victims' toxicology reports? But, Dexter had sabotaged the refrigeration unit, so they never did the autopsies, no? Even if they had, the tox report wouldn't have shown Ketamine?

He absolutely 100% would’ve. This is where people lose sight of who his character is: he’s a serial killer. He has faked relationships his entire life to fit in, and he lives by the code so as to never get caught. His son, one of only a select handful of people he genuinely cared about in life, shows up out of the blue and threw his world into a spin. It made him sloppy.

In the end Dexter got caught and did what any other desperate, sociopathic serial killer would do: kill to survive. In this case it was to get to his son, the only thing left in his life to keep him grounded and attached to humanity. Dexter always WANTED to feel and be human, but he couldn’t. His son was a sliver of hope for that.

To think he actually cared who he killed is yo get caught in the trap of thinking he’s some moral vigilante trying to do good. No. He was simply a serial killer trained to do that so he could live a free life.

Which is precisely why she picked up the rifle. She’s taking the blame for the shot, which is easily explainable

having Harrison do it defeats the purpose of “freeing” him. The trauma of having murdered his father will likely frick him up far worse than seeing his mom killed when he was a baby imo.

Correct, and in Dexter’s psychotic mind this makes sense. That’s the point. He’s a psychotic sociopath, and his ways of thinking are not going to be logical in regards to these things.

Harrison needed that to realize he wasn’t like Dexter at all

That’s just it; he’s more like Dexter than he realizes. He’s in the beginning stages of the mental illness kicking in. His tendencies are just starting to develop. The clues were dropped all season, and him killing Dexter was the final clue to emphasize this. I think the difference is that he isn’t quite the sociopath that Dexter was. He does have feelings and empathy for others, but it can be muted as it was when he stabbed his friend in the leg.
