The use of sound, music, and beats to create a tone in this movie is just amazing

The husband is really a POS

Telling your 5 year old kid about how he picked up his underage mother at a party and knocked her up that night

That Redhead though

Would anyone be interested in this?

quote:

James Sallis, author of the original Drive novel, wrote a sequel titled Driven, which was published in April 2012.[129] Director Nicolas Winding Refn has expressed interest in filming a sequel, saying: "The character is born, he's out there, he transforms himself completely into what he's meant to be, he was always meant to be this... He goes on to more and new adventure[s]."[130] Refn further says that he intends the sequel to feature two drivers, one of them a villain counterpart to Ryan Gosling's character, comparing the new driver to Lex Luthor and Professor Moriarty.[130] Gosling also expressed interest in starring in a sequel, saying that he would "love to make a Drive 2" but that he "[doesn't] want to make the same movie" again.[14]

it's not anything like that that, it's just that some people, most I know IRL, couldn't grasp that it was an art film

I see what you're saying. I thought maybe it had some deep cryptic meaning and I was just some meathead that liked the soundtrack and car chases

The elevator scene is what really made me realize how much I loved the movie. Slow and powerful

When he grabs her, plants one on her, slowly moves her to the side, and then beats that dudes brains in right in front of her, showing his monster side to him, I was like Hol E shite!

Also, like some mentioned, that soundtrack is thedomb.com.

Yep that was the whole movie in a nutshell. Slow and subtle but explodes at just the right moments to be effective and artistic. I wish i knew of more examples of this type of movie, it was so different

The shotgun to the face of the redhead was another example of it

Speaking of which, I loved that he was about to straight frick up the redhead. Dude obviously had an off/on switch, but you kept wondering where his moral center was. You just knew in that scene if she didn't start coming clean he was going to rape her face with that driving glove

Yep, that was the first real sign of "oh shite, this a bit of a pycho"

Then him beating the frick out of the puma jacket wearing doucher

I only saw Drive once and don't know how I feel about the movie. I did kind of appreciate the style and cinematography but the plot and characters came up empty for me. Felt like much of the "art" aspect of the movie was overstated and was centered around trying to get people to drool over Gosling (who sucks IMO). I did only see it once, maybe I should give it another chance.

Exactly the movie was slow and subtle, so when he finally snatches down a shower curtain rod and slams it through a guys neck or stomps a guys entire skull in with his boot, it's much more powerful than if he was just guns blazing from the first scene

fricking this. That elevator scene was intense

Basically this. It's one of those movies where I think it's absolutely amazing, but I can't recommend it to any friends because they'll think it's a piece of shite.

This is literally every movie for me that I truely enjoy. Drive is one of them.
