but they had to do more and live out Nolan's line of "we lived long enough to become the villians."
It didnt have to turn out the way it did.
The people involved in the creative process for the post endgame universe just focused on different things than those who created the storylines around captain america, iron man and thor and ultimately lacked the talent to write compelling and entertaining content around what they did come up with.
It was like a business being turned over to the next generation who immediately drove it into the ground because they either didnt understand what their customers want or simply didn't care.

yeah no Hulk redemption sucked, fat Thor was blah, and I wish they had just gone another route than time travel.
but overall endgame was good, good fan service, good final battle, and tony's death hit. The fact that the complaints are fairly minor is a win for that movie
IW was basically perfect though

Same with Star Wars, and the answer is that they don't agree with the core material's values and actively despise the historical fan base so they poisoned the subsequent material out of spite.

I agree, but there’s an arrogance factor at play as well.
Because they despise the source material and are obviously smarter than the plebe fans and source author they’re completely convinced they can come up with something 100x better that will also adhere to the political agenda of the day.
It’s why they and the networks that green light them are so obviously confused as to why the end result is always a disaster because in their circles and to their way of thinking it should’ve been a genius project.
But the problem is they aren’t as talented as they think they are.
Most weren’t hired based on their talent.
And ultimately their massive egos and disdain for the original content makes it impossible for them to capture the essence of what made the story compelling in the first place.
But at some level they know they can’t get greenlit with their own content for reasons they can’t fathom so they just sign on for the paycheck and the chance to do their own story with a different label on it.

Which begs the larger question about "creatives" these days:
If they're so clever and have such amazing, groundbreaking ideas, then come up with your own green-haired, genderqueer, sexually-deviant superhero pitch. If it has a market, then folks will throw money at it.
The problem is, they know there isn't and that people won't. Their fragile egos won't allow that sort of free market rejection of something that is inexplicably a core facet of who they are.
My self worth is not intrinsically tied to Luke Skywalker or Han Solo or Steve Rogers. They can't say the same for these purple-haired monstrosities that they're attempting to inject into pop culture & sci-fi.

All I know is that cutting to commercial as both sides of the battlefield are rushing towards each other immediately following Cap's "Avengers... Assemble!" line is some limp-dicked network decision-making.
I watched Jaws the other night and they cut to commercial right before Quint’s speech
