Second.
Damn this show hits in so many ways beginning to end.
Always compelling once you get past the first intro episode or two.
The realism is incredible, you really feel like you’re in a spaceship in so many scenes.
Very complex storylines but still stays centered.

High recommend for your space series vibe.

I rewatched the whole thing a few months back. I thought the Naomi stuff in season 5 held up way better on rewatch than the first time around. It’s funny how much differently you perceive screen time when binging a show vs. watching week-to-week.

Probably my favorite science fiction TV show. My only gripe is that season 6 felt kind of incomplete. I never read the books though so not sure how much of that is due to the source material.

Agree completely. I didn’t care for her character the first go around. This time I think she deserved an award for all that…every possible emotion of hardship and fighting through it portrayed perfectly.

And of course any scene with Amos in it is great.

It was still too much Naomi & Filip but overall I agree. Especially her escaping Marco and then solving her situation by altering the recorded message…

Still say The Expanse is the best sci-fi show out there.

The books go much farther. If you loved the series, the book series is highly recommended.

escaping Marco
The whole Marco arch was a waste of screen time. The story of a rogue Belter named Marco, with no connection to Naomi, acquiring nukes would have worked just fine.

I missed the Alex character when he left.

I think Chrisjen, with that grown up potty mouth, was my favorite character.

ETA: There were already four seasons out there when I started watching the show. Those four seasons were the best binging Watched at least two episodes every night when I got in the bed. Watched four a couple of times.

I've rewatched it once.

So my understanding is that the Laconia stuff was from a short story that led into another novel set some time in the future. If so, I kind of understand why the Laconia stuff in season 6 felt so incomplete.

What I don’t understand is how they only had 6 episodes of other content, even after devoting a decent amount of that to Laconia. Was there a lot of stuff left out from the book they adapted for season 6 or something?

The only issue I had with the show was Drummer's wildly inconsistent accent. Other than that, it was phenomenal.

Also, yes - the belter accents were certainly not the strongest part of the series.

Amos, Chrisjen, Bobbi Draper and Carmina Drummer all top my list as favorite character.

And then there's Miller. So many great characters. I've seen it 3x at least.

Dang, I’m just starting one with my teen son. About to finish Season 1 tonight.

Miller is such a great character.

Agreed and same. Btw from posts above, it's funny listening to Cara Gee ( ) talking about Belter and specifically Drummer's accent.

I'm pretty sure I've said before, BSG (2004), The Expanse, and The Orville are the top 3 (or very close to it) space setting sci-fi shows of the last 20 years and each of them does it in a completely different way.

This is a show I’ve thought about starting so many times but just never have pulled the trigger. I’ve heard it can be relatively confusing, is that accurate?

I may give this one a shot after I finish up Banshee.

Other than maybe the first season I don’t see anything confusing about it. It’s a pretty straightforward show. If you like Banshee and Sci-fi shows, The Expanse should be a perfect fit.

My experience with reading was that it was similar to a rewatch. The series closely tracks the books prior to Laconia. There is more depth in the books that any fan will appreciate.

The Laconia storyline in the series isnt even a shadow of the novels. If you want a true conclusion to the series, then a read through is the way to go. One could probably just read the final 3 books for Laconia arc if they were familiar with the series.
