This isn’t about me, genius. China isn’t looking forward to seeing it.
Why do you care? Genuinely asking

I like the casting , as I did with Superman. I just hate seeing James Gunn in charge of a entire universe that he clearly doesn't respect or care for.

Waiting for streaming.

Wow two biggest superhero movie brands aren't as affected as others what a shocker
You're not wrong, but as a DC fan it is extremely sad to me for Avengers to be considered "bigger" than Supergirl. This absolutely should not be true and shows how badly DC fumbled the bag.
Spiderman makes sense.

quote:Supergirl has never been a consistent big seller. She was a back-up character until the end of the 60’s, and when she took over Adventure Comics then it was the bottom of the Superman titles in sales. Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen were top five sellers above all Marvel comics as an example. Supergirl’s first title in the 70’s was forgettable and didn’t last long. There’s a reason that they killed her off in Crisis. Supergirl and Batgirl are just to derivative of their male mentors. Supergirl has had some bright moments with Peter David and Tom King, but she never had as many highs as The Avengers.

And I love Supergirl and wish DC had put more effort into her since the 50’s through the 80’s.

Neither was Avengers till the MCU. Supergirl has had a large enough part in some DC events that she would have been a big draw if anyone had faith in DC movies.

quote:Even when Stan Lee was still using The Avengers as a clearing house for characters without titles at the end of the 60’s, it was one of Marvel’s top ten titles. Then Marvel pulled a fast one on DC (with their pricing) and their titles, including Adventure Comics starring Supergirl, were surpassed by the FF, Spider-Man, and The Avengers. (And as popular as X-Men became, this is when they were cancelled while Avengers hit #100 and kept going.)

Was this before, or after, Marvel Comics was on the verge of bankruptcy?
It would be hard to call most of Marvel's business model history as working out, pretty much ever. Disney still can't use the most popular Marvel characters at their Orlando theme parks due to Marvel's bad business decisions they inherited.
Not that Disney has done much better. They were handed a gold mine with the MCU and have completely fumbled it since Endgame.
Regardless, DC would be printing money if they had not fumbled the DC movies the way they did. Supergirl should absolutely be bigger than anything Marvel has put out since Endgame other than the Spiderman movie, and that's before even getting to Superman. Hopefully Gunn will be able to put it all together and get the far superior properties back to the forefront where they shouod be. Peacemaker season 2 left a lot to be desired though, so my confidence is low.

quote:Way before. In 1971 DC and Marvel both decided to increase their prices from .15 to .25 per comic, with pages added. Marvel backed out as soon as it started, with one month at .25 before the went down to .20. This was also when Marvel switched distributors and was able to put out more titles, so they quickly passed DC in total sales. DC switched to .20 after a year, but by then it was too late.
