Damn, I never thought the Lilith actress would look old. Older, yes, but not straight up old.
I agree she seemed not to age before, but she did look very OLD in this episode. Her delivery seemed to have slowed down a bit as well. Cest la vie.

I know. Something about her has always done it for me. I’ve seen her as she looked in the 90s for quite a while. This episode was like getting hit in the face (and crotch) with icy cold water.

Just a few episodes left.
I think it’s confirmed Roz shows up.
I still hope they have a cheers cast member cameo. They should have Carla show up. Have her say she’s there with her grandkids and then have 40 or 50 kids swarm her.

I believe Roz has been confirmed as well.
Fwiw, I agree with bringing Carla back. Actually thought it would be funny to have Freddie date one of her granddaughters, to which both Frasier and Carla object.
I wonder what happened to Ludlow, who was Carla’s son with Frasier’s mentor.

Do they cover Frasier's stint as a blue mutant, or that time he moonlighted as a Starfleet Captain?

They have done as good as you could hope for with the missing key cast members of the original. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope they keep it going.

Watched episode 8. It actually had a David storyline that wasn’t terrible. The main plot involved Frasier trying to become a full fledged professor at Harvard, only to become embroiled in a series of misunderstandings about alcohol that played out humorously.
I actually think that some of the non-Frasier characters/actors are starting to come into their own a little bit. Have not heard whether or not the series will be picked up for a second season - the quality of the first is good enough in my opinion to justify it. If it is, I’d like to see it expand by a few more episodes.
Two more episodes in the season, including Roz’s return.
Eta corrected that the David storyline was NOT terrible

This show could be so much better. I give it a low C- as is.
I like the Freddy character. And I think David has potential. And the concept of Frasier and Freddy as the odd couple works.
The problem is that it’s directed like a Nickelodeon show. Everyone way overacts. The laugh track is extreme. Characters who are supposed to be snooty, uppity Harvard staff act like children. The black chick is just over the top silly. And not in a funny way.
Who do they think the audience is?

I can kinda agree with this take. I personally haven’t found the laugh track as annoying as others, but I see what you’re saying about the direction.
Of course, I also look back to the original series and see characters like Bulldog and Bebe who certainly “overreacted”.

I agree less with this statement. Frasier and Niles were both highly educated professionals, yet how many times in the original did they “act like children”? Yes, I can see where the Olivia was over the top in her desperation to have Frasier join the Department, her competitiveness with her sister and her being enamored with Freddy. Certainly though, through the years, those are behaviors that Frasier and Niles had, often to extreme, and often child-like. I can think of numerous cases in the early years with Niles obviously fawning over Daphne, for example.

Your overall premise, I do agree with. The show could be better. I think the overall writing/direction could be improved. I’d probably give it a C+ and maybe even a B- though, because I don’t believe it’s disappointing…it’s just not as fulfilling as it could be.

Anybody think the son is gonna come out as gay?
I do!
I do!

I’d take that bet. They were trying to make us think that with the baby’s name at the beginning. It doesn’t fit the narrative at this point and Grammer is no raging lefty.

Does that mean you agree with me or you want to bet that he is not? I am fine either way...if you disgree...I will gladly take your money ;)

Are you talking about Frazier’s son or Niles’ son?

In the birthday episode he seemed to be pretty into the chick, and was very upset he was trying to bring her to his room, only to find Frasier and Lilith making out there.
In the episode before with the blind date, he seemed to be pursuing the chick pretty hard.
I think it’s more likely that they try to put Freddy and Eve together, than they’d just randomly have him wind up being gay.

I think he’s talking about Nile’s son. Farsiers son being gay just makes no sense. I don’t think Nles son is either. Frasier and Niles were always atypical straight men. I think David is probably the same.

The other main plot involved Frasier and his work colleagues being invited to join the “Founders club” at Harvard, with a typical Frasier-type comic episode about trying overly hard to be accepted and acknowledged. There was a solid Cheers reference between Frasier and Alan in the basement wine cellar scene. Olivia had a few good Siri talk to text jokes. The show is obviously not going to be as good as the original Frasier or Cheers because overall, the level of acting or writing just isn’t there…though I can see with time it might develop. But KG’s timing and comfort in the role certainly makes it well worth watching. Its value goes well beyond simple nostalgia.
I just watched the original Frasier season 2 episode 18 “The Club”. Obviously a very similar premise to new Frasier Episode 5 “The Founders Society” . It provides for an interesting comparison between the new and the old.

The original is at the top of the list when it comes to sitcoms for someone my age (43). I like the reboot but something just seems off.

Episode 9 is out. Freddy feels like he’s not contributing living with Frasier, so to make him feel better he lets him fix the doorbell. Also had a side plot where David becomes Alan’s TA.
I actually thought the highlight of the episode was the scene with the plumber Frasier hired, though it did have a few other good moments.
I’ve been watching some episodes of the original Frasier (season 2) and I think this episode gave me a hint as to where this show is lacking - it’s that Freddy isn’t Martin. While he has the blue collar job and isn’t a “snob” like his father, he is hardly grounded. Basically, every character is neurotic…making the show more like Friends or HIMYM.
That’s not to say that this version of Frasier is bad or doomed….but it maybe that’s why it doesn’t quite have the magic of its predecessor.
Fwiw, the final episode of the season is next week. It’s supposed to have the return of Roz.

The last episode came out. In my opinion, I thought it was one of the weakest ones yet of the new series. It included a series of annoyingly improbable mishaps where Frasier inadvertently orders “24 Christmas trees and 1 chair”, gets a similarly named middle school string quartet and has a live goose (instead of cooked) delivered.
The Roz cameo was disappointing and felt forced. She didn’t really seem to be in character, or into the role.
I think the show will get a second season. For the most part, it was enjoyable and good to see Frasier back. It could have been better, but they did a pretty good job overall.
