I'm guessing this is where I should be to ask about the little girl at the end...
So are they a race? ...because I'd assumed that's the kind of magic you learn over time... but that's a young girl (I think).

It is a two season book and they still can't do it all.
Its not really about doing it all. More so about an eye catching scene to set the tone for the epicness that is book 3. They could have accomplished that one way or another.
Mainly I'm just really bitter that I didn't get to see dead men shamble up the fist in the dead of night while being set on fire. That scene creeped the frick out of me in the book and I couldn't wait to see it brought to life.

Cersei and Tywin didn't miss a beat in making us want to hate them.

She was a member of the House of the Undying I'm guessing.

Budget constraints of the show most likely. So much happens in this book, we are going to have to accept that certain things are going to be left out. Still doesn't take away from te writing, acting and production values.
Nice win today.. Stevie...

I don't see why that still couldn't happen. Sam still needs to kill one of the Others to become Sam the Slayer.

She was. Her mouth was blue.

That is going to happen for sure.

I enjoyed it but too many uneccesary changes IMO. I don't mind changes but these weren't for the better

So are they a race of people? ...or are they a guild comprised of many races?

Oh I thought it was brilliantly done. Tywin/Tyrion scene was a bullseye. Unlike what a few other said, I thought the Stannis/Davos scene was well done also. Just

Did you watch season 2? They do magic pretty well. I'm assume it was some sort of shapeshift. That wasn't how it was in the book so I couldnt tell you for sure.

What changes most disappointed you?

Yes... but they mostly show the same guy over and over. Doesn't help me figure out if they are "born into" or "become" members of the House.

Sorry I realized that was a stupid answer, so I edited to be more specific.

IMO it's going to be hard to say what was/wasn't necessary to cut until the whole season pans out. I imagine time constraints are an issue to with so much content to cover.

Given the budget constraints I think the changes were done very well. They were quick, effective, and deeper than just scratching the surface.

They film one of the most epic fantasy novels over two years with a cast of thousands and on location in exotic locales. Took Martin nothing but his imagination and power to a computer in terms of cost. We all just need to accept that there are going to be changes we don't like. It is afterall just entertainment.
