RIP Gena Rowlands. I never have watched the Notebook and have no real desire to watch it. I know Gena Rowlands from watching Gloria as a kid on the Movie Channel and thinking she was pretty badass and still looked and dressed like a lady. Buck Henry in a serious role threw me for a loop at the time because of Saturday Night Live. This movie was basically the Professional but more gritty and less "Hollywood". Directed by her husband John Cassavetes. It had a less glamorous and polished "Scorcese" feel to it. I remember liking the little kid in it as well. Good child actor.
I have enjoyed watching her in supporting roles throughout the years but have always identified with her as Gloria. Never watched the Sharon Stone remake and never wanted to.
I haven't watched it in years but am definitely going to do a rewatch soon. I guess I'll also finally see A Woman Under the Influence with Peter Falk as well.
Always liked her.

RIP
She played in tons of stuff over the years. I remember a sorta obscure one as Danny Aiello’s wife and Holly Hunter’s mother in Once Around. For some reason I remember really liking that movie.

Hadn't thought about that one in a long time. Enjoyed it as well. Richard Dreyfus's character was so annoying yet you had compassion for him. At least I remember it that way.

A fierce original. Most of these actresses today could never hold a candle to her work.
The local tv station's headline for her was "Best Known for the Notebook."

She's great, and a little cute in 1962's Lonely Are the Brave with Kirk Douglas
She was 32 then.
According to his son Michael, it's Douglas' favorite movie.
JustWatch says it's on Starz or Apple;, Can rent or buy on Prime.
