I'm not saying they wouldn't build more than one. I was replying to people saying the Ballista would be useless because the dragons would easily evade it. They wouldn't know to evade it until after they got shot at.

I gotcha. But how will they be able to see the arrow once it's in the air? Those frickers are flying fast and with the fog of war going on, they might not be able to see one flying at them.

Another thing, just because the dragons might get shot at, and might get killed, doesn't mean that Dany shouldn't use them. She's gonna need em.

Personally, I don't know why Dany doesn't do night raids on the Lannister army or Euron's fleet with the dragons if she can find out where they are.

I have to stop and remember this is for entertainment, because in the real world it makes zero sense what the freak soever.

Bro, they are dragons. They are creatures of fantasy, and throughout the realms of fantasy they are routinely defeated by man. They are huge, cunning, and breathe fire, but they can not match wits with a cunning man, that is their downfall. Smaug could fricking talk, and the same weapon ended him.

If the tyrells had that much gold to cover the crowns debt, how were they essentially a second place family for so long? They're hella incompetent

No, they were crazy smart. If you are #1 you are the main target. If you are #2 you can always change sides.

The tyrells also had a renewable source of income. They were shipping crops all over the continent. The Lannister's wealth was derived from a finite resource

I think the weather changes and food rationing alone could decimate a lot of the Dothraki and Unsullied.

Yes, I understand, but a pissed off dragon flying and buzzing around like a fly should be pretty difficult to kill. And, Smaug absolutely DESTROYED that little fishing town from what I remember. Took a lucky shot from the bloodlines of a dragon slayer. The dragon would need to be completely stationary and unguarded. You aren't hitting that thing while it is in the air. Unless they have a bazooka the size of Kong and being used by Kong to aim and fire, no arrow is going skyward and piercing a dragon through any scales he may have.

My guess is that one of the dragons gets injured, but not mortally wounded. Someone has said that it may die and become an Ice Dragon--I assume becoming apart of the night king's army. That is possible.

But, I say, wounded, pissed, heals and the three riders will ride north to destroy the night king's army.

Why cant it be as simple as they build 100 crossbows and fire them all at once hoping to take out the dragons with a sea of giant arrows?

It's highly doubtful they will have a single crossbow for defense.

I posted that on the last page. I think the consensus is that they will fire a wall of those arrows at em.

Plus you don't even have to hit the dragon's head or body. The wings would be valuable as well since that grounds the dragons.

The amount of time spent arguing about this is up there with the dumbest bullshite I've seen discussed since this show came out. And that is saying a lot.

They're not fricking invincible. Meraxes and Vhagar both got killed. One by a sword and one by a scorpion.

You have to be extremely accurate. The wings are much much larger. Once they're on the ground, they're screwed with the scorpions.

Yeah, grounding the dragons is the big challenge. Once they are down they can be swarmed

Well how many arrows would a wing be able to take before it goes down? I feel like it would be multiple.

Just one. Once it has a hole in it, it can no longer stably fly. It will go spiraling slowly to the ground, and once it hits it's screwed.

I would hope that Dany and especially Tyrion have studied their history of Dragon's in warfare (but highly doubt it).

Also, what kind of Dragons are we dealing with? Stupid dragons no smarter than an Alligator? Or, a Dragon with the intelligence of a human? If the later with vision as good as any apex predator (yes birds that fly; dragons in this case are apex predators) then they should easily spot any danger from above. Also, I would assume Dany would actually take the freaking time to send scouts ahead to survey the perimeter defenses--shite ain't rocket science.

She totally has the upper hand and now that she lost a little of her military (not as big as some tend to lend) I'd expect her and now Jorah when he arrives along with Snow will use their collective wits to out wit Cersei and Euron or even Jamie.

Dany needs Jon as badly as Jon needs her.. With Davos at his side and Jorah soon available they easily could knock the shite out of King's Landing with ease and I don't give a shite how many stationary crossbows are at their disposal.

I think the movie Reign of Fire more than accurately translates a world in which Dragons exist--if it were a real threat. A stationary tank couldn't even hit one obviously and was a sitting target.

Also, if Dany were to attack at night with her Dragons it is all but an arse whippin of monumental proportions. A night where the overcast is thick and the moon is covered provides more than enough cover against arrows being unleashed.

Is the Donish army just going to sit this one out? They were never retrieved from what I remember, I assume Dany doesn't have another relationship down there beyond the Sand.

And for all the praise that Olenna is getting remember that her house was wiped out under her guidance. All of her plans came to naught.

They clarified last night that their Dornish ships where all destroyed in that sea battle. There are no dornish armies left from my understanding

Oh I missed that.

But at the same time that doesn't make sense because Yara was headed to Dorn to retrieve them when she was ambushed?

I could be wrong. I can't remember what the original mission was for Yara/sand snakes
