AWESOME MOVIE! I watched it last night for the first time and LOVED IT. Clint Played the role to perfection, and I also thought the Asian teenaged neighbors did a great job as well ( being and playing actually teenagers unlike hollywood actors who are 25 playing a 17 year old )

Maybe in La, especially in New Orleans, but in other states they do keep people that commit crime in jail and in most of them, you do not have to be the shooter to be an accomplice or charged with 2nd degree murder. Not every one that gets charged and gets off is out of jail in a matter of hours or days. The movie ending is flawed, so is your criticism.

I was just about to mention this. That was maybe the worst 10 seconds of acting in film history. The acting sans Clint was absolutely atrocious. And the dialogue was terrible too.

It was a good concept and Clint was great.
I agree, and that's the only thing that kept it from being an all-time bad movie. It was still pretty horrible, though.

SPOILERS
Your criticism of my criticism is flawed.
1.They sat around and waited to be arrested. How often does this happen?
2.All of them shooting him was absurd and there is no way he would have known that would happen.
3.I still don't buy one shooter would have ended with everyone is the house arrested for murder.
4.Maybe gun or drug charges in which case they could have posted bail and sought revenge on the nice Asian family.
The most serious flaw is still #1. They just sat around waiting to be arrested. They would have scattered once they realized Clint did not have a gun.
You can argue the points all you want, but a rational person would never have expected the outcome to happen the way it did. The ending is terribly flawed.

I wanted more Clint kicking arse than what we got. And I thought the racist jokes were over the top.

I've come to the conclusion that the people that liked this movie just really love ridiculously over the top racist jokes (i.e. the "pussification of America" crowd).
This movie was terrible.

It was just to make a point of how some people think, at least it was both ways, I thought it showed how different cultures can all have stereotypes and how in the end people can bond without being so f'n PC.

I agree. It was funny at first because he would say this ridiculously racist stuff to their faces
But after literally the 20th+ racist joke, it was really old and just seemed like they were just looking for a way to get another one in

Other than the part where the entire point of the movie was about a racist man discovering he wasn't that different from his neighbors?

Huh?
I get the point of the movie.
It was just terribly done.

Aside from the horrible acting from the Asians, it was very well done. Best movie of 2008 and a fine way for Clint to end his acting career.

Clint Eastwood is a legend. He did a great job playing an old racist white guy. "GET OFF MY LAWN" !!!!

I really enjoyed it but some of the supporting cast was terrible. Tao and the one son who played a more prominent role had some cringe worthy lines in the movie. I am not one to harp on things like this but this movie deserved a little better.
It wasn't just these two either. I don't know if I should blame Clint's directing or the casting director.
Good movie overall though.

some of the witnesses may have called the police when they saw them draw guns, so the cops may have already been on their way?
an OK movie
