this shite is blowing my mind. Guillermo Del Toro played a Frankenstein character in Death Stranding, which was released November 8, 2019. Kojima mustve known.

Yes.
Sadly, Nosferatu didn’t work…
That’s too bad because Egler’s has shown us that the has talent…
I thought “The Witch” was very good.

Just watched it. Thought the creature looked weird, but overall I enjoyed it.

It wasn’t bad but a ton of wasted potential. I did love the creature at the beginning, the movie looked great and performances were really good. The story changes caused some nonsensical payoffs and resolutions.

I completely agree with you. It starts off well, but makes strange choices landing the plane.

Very strange and disconnected. Dunno if we’re allowed spoilers but the dynamic when we first see them switches on a dime for no reason at all. The motivations for everyone became nonsensical towards the end. It was very odd. Ironically enough he lost the soul of the story by changing it.

Is it better than the Penny Dreadful version of Frankenstein and John Clare?

Victor became his dad, which as I understand, is nowhere in the source material, so it's a totally new take on Frankenstein.

That aspect has been there in the past but it was much more subtle and only came from the creature’s POV.

Trash film
Robert Eggers’ last good film was The Lighthouse and he hasn’t produced anything decent since

No, I mean Victors behavior towards the monster mimicked how Victor was treated by his father (which isn't in the novel)

No, in the book Victors dad is like a nice grandfather almost. Family man, total opposite of this movie really.

I thought so as well. It was so damn boring.

Acting - A
Cinematography - A+
Score - B
Pacing - F
The movie wants to be great, but it's a slog.

It felt like reading the book.

The creature in the first scene is not the creature from the rest of the movie. Felt like false advertising

Yep, movie starts with a bang and then smothers itself with scene after scene of tedium.
