the first 2 are really kiddy and stick very close to the books, starting with the 3rd when they switched directors they start getting darker and a little more grown up. The 3rd movie is my favorite in the series so far.

I've read all the books (several times because I'm a nerd), and I agree completely. So, to make the movies better, I watched them all in a span of about 6 weeks without reading any of the books for about a year before, and the movies were a lot better hahaha

they ruined the last movie. They add a fight scene that doesn't exist and then take out and change the most important even in the HP series

i agree, they took my favorite book and made it my second to last favorite (is that right?) movie after chamber of secrets.

not having the funeral was a travesty

the way they killed him was worse IMO. They just have harry there watching him die like a pussy which goes 100% against his character and who he is. Then they leave out the fight scene that goes throughout the castle. Harry gets destroyed by Snape (just like the book) but they leave out everyone else who took out on the way to him.
I just don't understand why they would change it in the 1st place.

that and ron/lavender/hermione nonsense got way too much screen time.
It's small but it irks me to no end that in the movie harry isn't in the body bind when Snape kills Dumbledore. Changes the whole scene IMO. And the concept that the teachers are willing to fight to defend the castle and the kids isn't made clear because they leave out the battle and the end of 6. Just strange.

i think they said it was because they felt it would be to similar to the battle of howarts that is coming in DH..which i think is bullshite

Do you guys think they'll stop down in the middle of the battle to do the Snape story? As important as it is in redeeming snape and everything, they've left out so much of what we find out about that whole generation of wizards that it won't have much impact for ppl. who haven't read.

they better...the redeeming of Snape is probably my favorite part of the entire series.

The most egregious omissions from the movies, imo, are the role of Dobby the elf.
He is a major recurring character in the books. I think he's only in the 2nd movie.

and a huge, fairly moving part in the DH that if they try to do will not mean as much after they have disregarded him for 4 movies.
also, the rest of the weasley brothers have been written out of the movies but they are in the DH
and its Kreacher

Glad to see the books getting respect on this board. Maybe they weren't perfect, but I don't care. I hadn't been so enamored with a mythology and world since I read the Taran the Pigkeeper books by Lloyd Alexander when I was in Jr High.
One thing I was really looking forward to seeing, and I don't know why the image stuck in my mind, was McGonaugh (sp?) leading the desks and chairs into battle in HBP.
Didn't happen in the movie, but maybe for DH it will.
And we got a good foreshadowing of Neville's courage when Harry and Co. meet up with him again in DH and he's all beat up because of his rebellious attitude at Hogwarts.

Part 2 will be almost entirely the Battle of Hogwarts.
Da frick?
There is a lot of stuff happening there, but I don't see them making a full flick here.
Won't find out. I refuse to see either one...the last straw for me was Half Blood Prince and how they added all kinds of shite, but heavily truncated one of the most emotionally charged segments of the entire series (more than anything in the finale IMO), partially out of concerns of making the second "Battle" to seem redundant.

Forgot about that part when I made the statement about emotion in the final book.
In one chapter of information overload, everything clicks about Snape/suspicions confirmed, and the author tries to shift you from abject dislike to pity.
She could have done a better job of not dropping hints in the 6th book that he was a triple agent though. But I guess on the flip side, it would have seemed a little TOO unrealistic to not have the reader open to the possibility when you reach that point in DH
And while we are talking about the books, da frick is with that epilogue? I have no doubt that will be one of the few things they will stay entirely faithful to, in all of its absurdities. *Battle* *White fade out* *Text pops up with King's Crossing in the background of "Nineteen years later"*`
