Not really. They could just have that smart alien's kid come back in 3 years and try to save the human hero from district 9, who presumably will be in prison.

Um, isn't the main character possibly still alive? Did the aliens not promise to come back in 3 years, before flying away in the mothership?
Or was that some other District 9? perhaps I feel asleep. Who knows..

This. Just finished watching it. It was refreshing to see something so different but it definitely didn't blow my socks off.
And I for one was hoping Wickus would get smoked after he KO'd the good alien and then took off in his ship.

Yeah they show his wife getting a metal flower thing (remember her in the movie saying that Wickus always made weird shite out of junk). Then they show an alien making a metal flower. Put 2 and 2 together...

It seems like they could have mounted some sort of resistance to the humans if they would have taken that approach. Granted, 90% of the aliens weren't exactly Rhodes scholars, but it doesn't take a hell of a lot of intelligence to use a weapon to kill what you perceive to be a threat.

I loved it. It can be taken as a good action packed sci fi film but it also goes a lot deeper. One of my favs
